Wes and Kevin didn't call Sarah after seeing her in IKWYDLS.
I KNOW and SCREAM 2 were filmed back to back. Sarah said several times that when she heard a sequel for SCREAM was in producton, she begged her manager to get her an audition for ANY ROLE.
About her being cut in the film, I highly doubt it has to do with Sarah, probably more about the pacing of the film. And the poster thing, I don't think Craven had a word on that. The promotional stuff is more related to Dimension Films.

And I saw some pics of her hugging Wes at the Atlanta college location.
On the other side, I've heard from SEVERAL friends that she's a total bitch on set. -

"Wes and Kevin didn't call Sarah after seeing her in IKWYDLS."
False. They both did.
" I KNOW and SCREAM 2 were filmed back to back."
No, they were not.
" Sarah said several times that when she heard a sequel for SCREAM was in producton, she begged her manager to get her an audition for ANY ROLE."
Why are you making things up?
You, a salty water ocean wave.

"I Know" wrapped in June, exactly when Scream 2 began principal photography in Atlanta, where Sarah shot her scenes. So yes, the two films were shot back to back.
The fact that Sarah asked her manager to get her an audition for Scream 2 was EVERYWHERE at the time of the Scream 2's filming (and I don't see what's wrong with that).
Obviously both Williamson and Craven liked her since she got the part and they even reshoot a scene including her character in it. She didn't even read the script when she signed on for Scream 2.
For the records:
After seeing Sarah Michelle Gellar in the huge hit I Know What You Did Last Summer, Kevin Williamson and Wes Craven were impressed and keen to get Gellar (who at the time was perhaps the biggest new starlet of the time) in 'Scream 2' to ensure its blockbuster appeal. Gellar was across the country filming the second season of Buffy The Vampire Slayer during when Scream 2 was set to be filming
THAT's false:
Craven and Williamson couldn't have seen her performance in IKWYDLS since it wasnt released until November, TWO months after Scream 2 wrapped.
Gellar wasn't filming Buffy when Scream 2 began filming. Scream 2 started on June 15 in Atlanta and TV shows (Buffy included) starts in mid-late July. So she only had a few weeks but definitely wasn't already filming 2nd season. -

The scene of Geller talking with the other sorority girls outside was the character's original introduction, however, during re-shoots of the film class scene (which was originally quite different and didn't have Joshua Jackson) they decided to reintroduce gellar as a more likable character and the original scene was thrown out along with the original film class scene (which was included on the original Dvd release back in the day). The promo stuff really has nothing to do with Wes or who he's chummy with, this is a business.
As for the Sarah darling rumors, if it's true at all it was probably little more than a throwaway joke based on Geller being a bit of a diva at the time (you'll find a lot of references to her being slightly full of her self in interview from the late 90s) but not a feud.
And Gellar
did
tweet about Wes's death. She called him a kind soul I think.
Another poster noted that it was odd Geller would say she didn't really know Neve at all, but with the exception of one scene (the cut scene) they were never filming at the same time. And it's worth noting that Cox who shared plenty of screen time with Neve claimed to never have gotten to know Neve until they were filming Scream 4. So there ya go.
I think there's probably not much to it. She was a bit of a Diva on set. They made a bit of fun out of her maybe in Scream 3. If it is true tho, it doesn't make much sense, since Geller was a fresh faced TV star at the time, young and in demand, and as you said being jetted from one side of the us to the other just to have her in their movie. Craven even praised her acting in the commentary. Sarah Darling is an aging nobody who can't act for beep And "the chick who gets killed 2nd" is a trope with or without allusions to Geller in scream 2.

The fact that she was in promotional posters, etc. doesn't really mean much. Like you said, she was the "hottest starlet" at the time. Remember how Drew Barrymore features on the dvd cover/promotional photo's etc. of the first one? It was because she was the "big name" to pull people in. So maybe whoever organises the promotion was just using Gellar in a similar way. That wouldn't surprise me at all, though it wasn't as shocking as the Drew reveal of Scream.
I think really it was probably just scheduling issues and things do get cut from movies constantly, especially when her character really wasn't pivotal in the slightest so that made her scenes among the easiest to cut.
Either way, seems she did tweet about him which is nice/respectful so I'm glad someone pointed that out. Whatever differences they had (or didn't) with each other, death should always overcome that and it obviously did. Seems like it was probably just professional stuff which maybe turned a little personal? We've all had those situations but doesn't mean 17 years after that we still hold a grudge! -

The only thing I know is that the production had to massively go out of their way to accommodate her, supposedly the entire scene in the sorority house was shot way out-of-town and closer to the Buffy set because of her schedule. She was also notoriously a little bratty back then (which isn't surprising, since she was like 20 years old and one of the hottest young actors in Hollywood), and if she was a little dramatic on set
after
all the accommodations they gave her, I can imagine the crew being pissed at her. But all of that is speculation.
In regards to promotion, can't really explain why she wasn't on the poster, but she wasn't removed from an original design. She was in a lot of the print ads in newspapers when it was released, but only absent on the official one-sheet. That one never changed. There wasn't an "early design" and a "later design" as you sort of imply. If anything, her face was used more once the film actually hit theaters, like the Entertainment Weekly cover and the Rolling Stone spread.
And the missing scene wasn't a big conspiracy, either. It was initially shot as her introductory scene (basically she spies Sidney and asks Lois and Murphy if she's pledging a sorority yet), but when they decided to reshoot the film class scene, they inserted Cici into that scene and removed her other one all-together since it would come off like two introductory moments for the same character.
I doubt there was a feud, but if Sarah Darling was any indication (if there's even a connection anyway?), she probably asked a lot of questions and was maybe frustrated that she didn't have more to do (after all, she signed on before seeing a script).
Based on her tweets about Wes Craven following his death, I doubt it was all that interesting a "feud."
Nobody deserves mime, Buffy.
