    My favorite is
    Scream
    .
    A Nightmare on Elm Street
    and
    Scream 2
    deserve honorable mentions, though.

My favorite is probably "Scream". It's just a masterpiece.

            You've got to be kidding!
Without strife, your victory has no meaning.
Without strife, you do not advance.
Without strife, there is only stagnation.

The Hills Have Eyes is my favorite.
Last House on the Left is my second favorite.
His later films don't interest me as much. NOES is an undisputed classic, of course, but I've never really wanted to revisit it.

As a tv witch thriller, I myself prefer
                          Midnight Offerings
                          with Melissa Sue Anderson over
                          Summer Of Fear
                          .
With Craven, I pretty much much enjoy all his 70's and 80's offerings.
                          Swamp Thing
was a bit blah though, if not cheesy fun. I haven't seen
                          The Fireworks Woman
                          or
                          Invitation To Hell
                          .
I would have to go with
                          The Hills Have Eyes
, because I rate it in my top 10 horrors.
Norman! What did you put in my tea?

I love "Midnight Offerings" and thought it was genuinely creepy, with MSA giving a very good, very convincing portrayal of a witch. I love the relationship between Vivian and her mother, played sympathetically by Cathryn Damon.
"Summer of Fear" is just so much fun to me. It's not scary or disturbing at all. It's almost Scooby Doo time. It is definitely high on replay value.
I haven't seen "The Fireworks Woman", but thought "Invitation to Hell" was alright. Susan Lucci and Robert Urich, right?

Wes Craven making a Scooby Doo type thriller is too anaemic to my mind. I expected a little more, especially after Left and Hills.
Even though only made for tv, SOF could have been edgier like The Spell or MO, which/witch had the perfect brew for what it was. Thinking about it now makes me want to watch it. MO is satisfying!

I am a huge fan of "The Spell" also. The mother-daughter relationship is very compelling that one. Reviewers are so willing to overlook some of the more intelligent elements in some of these movies.

is a bit heavy handed, but the family relationships in both this and MO do offer some substance.

TSATR is a goodie and Craven made an imaginative and tense little occult thriller which balanced fear and magic quite skilfully. Plus it also starred the likeable Bill Pullman and a terrifying turn by Zakes Mokae.
Serpent came off a wave of 2 other occult thrillers, The Believers and Angel Heart. I find it to be my favourite of the three.

Its on here to watch, Martin Sheen and Helen Shaver. Its not too bad, just not as much fun as TSATR.
