Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Wes Craven

Granted, I haven't seen every single Craven film yet, but so far for me, Shocker is my least favorite. Just curious to see others' opinions.

I haven't seen all of his films either, but out of the ones I have seen, I'd have to say Chiller is the least entertaining. It's still not a terrible film, just not Wes's best.

Shocker is actually one of my favorite Craven movies. My least favorite is Cursed.
I hate that movie with a passion.

Cursed and My Soul To Take. Wes smokes weed on this ones.

Cursed and My Soul To take get a lot of hate, but I feel like they're just so-so filler movies, not actively awful like Vampire in Brooklyn. Shocker was actually my least favorite. New Nightmare and Scream compete for first place in the best craven category.

When I first "My Soul To Take" in the theaters I didn't like it because it was released in 3D and it was not at all a 3D movie. I got when it was released on DVD and I feel in love with the movie. So that and "A Nightmare On Elm Street" and original "Last house on the left". These are the ones I like. I really didn't care for "A Nightmare on Elm Street3: Dream Warriors"

Invitation to Hell is not a great movie, nor is it unwatchable, but of all the Craven films I've seen I disliked this one the most.
My favorite is Scream, with A Nightmare on Elm Street and The People Under the Stairs are close seconds.

I really, really enjoyed that film when I watched it. Of course that was many years ago so I don't remember it all that much. I've been meaning to watch it a 2nd time and your post reminded me that I need to do that, so thanks even though you dislike it.

I really don't like My Soul To Take, very boring, I quite liked Shocker and Cursed is my guilty pleasure 😉
I also can't forgive him for cutting up Scream 4 to a mess, everything he took out made the movie more balanced (but it's more the Weinsteins fault, still Wes should have had the balls to keep the original opening and all the other scenes) He really should make his director's cut

I really loved Scream 4. But, there is an Extended Cut on youtube where the person has essentially put in all the deleted scenes. It really makes such a difference. I have since downloaded it to my collection and it now is the copy I always watch. I love it!! You should really look into it yourself 🙂

The only films of his I don't like too much are Music Of The Heart and Red Eye, the former is a weak drama that Meryl Streep is completely wasted in, the latter is an average and extremely forgettable thriller.

Meryl was nominated for an Oscar with her 'wasted' performance in Music of the Heart eh? lol
Anyway - I love all his films in their own way, Cursed was probably his more generic studio film with to much CGI and to many re-shoots.
Vampire in Brooklyn takes the cake.
