Honestly, I'm one of these people who can never understand why someone gets upset about a celebrity dying. I remember when Princes Diana died and thousands of people were standing outside of Buckingham palace crying their eyes out. I thought it was pathetic, they never knew this person and they're treating them like a relative. Strangely though, when I logged on to imdb last night and read "Wes Craven dead" I said out loud, "Oh no". I was very taken back by my gut reaction. I mean I'm not crying my eyes out are anything, but I feel strangely somber today. I was born in 81 and grew up with his movies. Freddy was a huge part of my childhood and I was a teenager when the Scream movies came out and they were a huge part of my teens. Rest in peace Wes!

I was just scrolling through Twitter and just barely noticed a retweet from Daily Beat and just barely registered the words Wes Craven died cancer 76 but for some reason it didn't even enter my mind what that meant. I follow Wes Craven on Twitter, it's a regular part of my day reading what he's saying 2000and he'd never given any indication of being sick. So I kept scrolling and saw a tweet from Wes Craven and thought okay there he is, but then saw what the tweet was, it was a picture with the RIP whatever to 2015, and immediately it just felt like the floor dropped out. Guys like Craven, Carpenter and Romero made me love movies before guys like Kubrick or Scorsese so it affected me a lot.

Yea I was genuinely taken aback this morning when I heard he died never knew he was even sick or 76. Came across as really genuine in any of the DVD commentary's or behind the scene making of documentary's I've seen him in. I was on reddit some time last year and anyone who ever worked with him said he was the nicest guy they had ever worked for also.

I saw a tweet somebody had retweeted saying something along the line of; "Goodbye Wes Craven." I thought "Oh not, he's not dead." I googled it, and he was.

I texted a friend who is also a fan of horror movies, and they said it was sad. Oddly enough, I decided to put my Freddy Krueger T-Shirt on that day. Probably silly, but thought it seemed as good a way of honouring him as any.
Was out most of yesterday, but might try and catch a few of his films at some point to remember him. -

I was 13 in 1981 and that was the year my father died. And in case you didn't know, that was also the year Diana married Prince Charles and became Princess. And that means you turn 35 this year (2016) and become old enough to be President or Vice President. I was just curious, what date in 1981 were you born on (if you don't want to tell please don't feel obligated to, I was just interested)?

I learned about it on a drive home with my mom and cousin from my sister's place . My cell phone kept chiming, indicating a new message. Finally, while we were at a pit stop, I checked my messages, just to see what all the fuss was.
And that's how we learned that Wes Craven died
It made the rest of the ride home very sad and dismal. From what I recall, I watched my old VHS of Elm St. when we all got home.
I'm so scared your little head will come off in my hands! -

Complete and utter shock
, I was in that day. I just couldn't fully comprehend what I was reading, when I first read on the IMDb news page. My family once had a run-in with cancer, so hearing of his cause of death was
heart-breaking
to me. Such a sweet and shy gentleman who reinvigorated the horror genre twice, that's something no one else would ever be able to pull off. He's a legend to me, I've watched his movies since I was 3 or 4, starting off with
Scream
and
New Nightmare
.
Oh yeah, has anyone else heard of that Change.org petition that cropped up demanding a release of his original cut for
Deadly Friend
on home video? I was strongly considering signing it right before his passing. Check it out, maybe do it for Wes:
