There's a power imbalance. It does matter. What she did was in repsonse to his abuse. The evidence is consistent with a pattern of abuse. He has even admitted to his odious behavior. There are therapy logs. There were marks, and no, they're not fake. Look, it was hard for me to accept. You're talking to someone who has loved Edward Scissorhands since he was 4.

I don't believe the abuse was bad enough that she was trapped
I recently watched an accounting of a woman who married a man she didn't know because she wanted "the dream"
She had children from a previous marriage and this husband not only abused her, but he bullied the children. The mother stayed with him through all the abuse, he had broken her arm at one point
He decided he was going to kill her. He had taken her in the car, and she was wounded
She ran to a man in another vehicle for help and the husband ended up killing them both
