Ridiculous argument. If we choose to confer rights on animals, then they have rights. End of story.

There is a portion of humanity that believes that. They are usually the ones who do the most monstrous things. People like Hitler, Stalin, Manson & Dalmer thought like that.
Others like Jesus, Lincoln, Gandhi & Mandela believed the opposite. They held that not all things were subject. Some were objective and some were not of human origin but rather divine & immutable.
Take a second to review how things turned out for both groups and tell me who got better results.

Gandhi believed that a society is judged by how it treats its animals. He wouldn't have had a problem with animal rights.

Gandhi would have been intelligent enough to recognize this as a technical argument. He would have recognized that the important takeaway here is that both the rights and the obligations fall upon us. Upon humans. Humans are big about claiming their rights. They are even bigger about dodging their obligations. Forcing people to face and fulfill those obligations is the real struggle because people being people would rather claim that animals 'have rights' in order to avoid stepping up. Humans are lazy both physically and intellectually.
It is NOT that animals have a right to be treated decently.
It is on PEOPLE to fulfill their OBLIGATION to treat animals decently.
A technical argument. Both outcomes ideally end with animals being treated decently. But it is not good enough to just do the right thing. One must do the right thing for the right reason and understand WHY it is right.

To hold rights, a being must be able to recognize the concept of rights and claim them. Animals, despite their intelligence or instincts, lack this capacity.
According to this it looks like human babies are too dumb to know what is going on which means they don't have rights and can be killed with no consequence.

The first thing I thought of. That's why this silly proviso has been put in:
Rights Apply Universally Across a Species if One Member Qualifies
Rights are never parceled out only to those individuals currently capable of claiming them. Once it is established that at least one member of a species has the necessary comprehension, rights extend to the species as a whole. This principle explains why human infants, the severely disabled, or those in comas still possess rights—because the human species, by its nature, produces individuals fully capable of claiming them. No non-human species has yet demonstrated this capacity.
Many babies may grow up to be completely mentally incapable, and we still extend rights to them. So it isn't based on being "fully capable of claiming [them]."
                  Argument falls apart.

AI still has a long way to go if it has bugs like these in the system.
Are you aware this is the same guy who AI told him he can solve world hunger and the water shortage crises by building square mile sized swimming pools near the oceans?
                    Brilliant!
Why didn't I think of that?
                    Wells?
                    Who needs 'em anymore!
It seems to me the only access to free AI us regular schulbs has is for entertainment purposes.
Those who use it as a tool are professionals in that field already and probably don't ask it dumb random questions to get dumb answers such as this fellow keeps on getting.
I don't use it but I would think there would be a different level of AI that actually works for those who pay for the software and it might be specific in their professional field where for us it is going to be too general and **** up?
Just a hunch I came up with based on the AI interactions the OP shares.

AI (in this case) is simply drawing on mainstream Western intellectual traditions, which, in the case of both the Judaeo-Christian and the Greek foundations, is anthropocentric and based on the idea that nature should be dominated and exploited. So, obviously, animals can't have rights according to this tradition (did you know our livestock outweighs both humans and wild animals by a factor of 30)? We want to kill and eat animals with a clear conscience, not to mention use them for laboratory experiments and hunt them to prove our "manhood."
AI will always replicate majority consensus (which is almost always wrong)…..

Good points and good thoughts on how AI can be flawed.
And you have an excellent way with words.
That makes sense now why it would approve of a square mile of a concrete slab to hold water built near the ocean as a solution to the water crises.
(It has to do with desalination and never mind it is already happening and those in the field have come up with other ways to do it instead of a plant and a pool.)
I explained to him this could have a major environmental impact and there would be a lot of red tape to get the local community on board with allowing that large type of development when they didn't have anything there before.
Who wants an eyesore like this that will ruin the view no matter the cause for it?
This is another case of the American white man coming in to take over for his greed under the guise of good.
(did you know our livestock outweighs both humans and wild animals by a factor of 30)
                        Here is another sad fact.
80%, or more, of ALL American crops are being grown to be wasted on livestock feed instead of feeding the planet.
So the cause of starvation is not because there is not enough food to feed everyone.
It's the distribution that is the reason for it.
Building desalination pools will not end world hunger.
Plus there is the issue if those who never farmed before now want to farm.
Just because they may now be able to doesn't mean they will.
There are just too many logistical hurdles to make this a reality.

I would love to watch you try to swim in water a quarter inch deep and 170 - 180 degrees. That would be highly amusing.
It is also going to be highly satisfying to see the mocking fools here eat their words.
