First, I didn't realize Jodie Foster attended Yale.
Second, does anyone know if she's ever publicly commented on John Hinckley, Jr. and the Reagan assassination attempt? I wonder how she felt to know a president was almost murdered over a crazed man's obsession with her? -

If she did speak about it, it was only once. This subject is one that, it is said, all interviewers are warned beforehand that she will just get up and walk out if she is asked about. Hinkley wrote her letters for a while threatening to rape and kill her, until the hospital cut off his mailing privileges.
And, yeah, she went to Yale. She graduated, too. One thing that she has said, although without saying Hinkley's name, was that Yale gave her a comfortable environment to get out of the public eye and pull her head back together. Yale, being a private school, can ban the press from their property. They did exactly that for her while she attended.
Another interesting fact, that was not mentioned in the TV movie. John Hinkley's parents were friends with George and Barbara Bush. -

I can't blame her at all for shutting out public inquiry on that topic. Good to know in case I ever bump into her, because I'd certainly be curious about it. That fellow had a broken mind, and it's troubling that he wasn't confined years before he shot President Reagan. Such a terrible thing.
