I'm curious. I don't keep up with topic and articles as much anymore but I loved his old films so I am wanting to know- what happened in his life that is making people hate him now?

He got drunk and said stupid stuff nearly
10 years ago
, apologized, but people can't move on and dwell in misery.
He raised a ton of money recently at a charity event, plus some. They won't talk about that thoughPFFT

Society is so dumb. EVERYONE has opinions on EVERYTHING. Just because someone says their opinions or thoughts on something doesn't make em a HORRIBLE person. Move on and let em be- what does it matter to anyone else what he thinks of certain topics? It doesn't. People go ape beep when people speak out loud but that's the only time they wanna make a big fuss. Mel is an awesome actor- I grew up on his movies and if he states his opinions on whatever he chooses- so be it. For all I care he can say in the press that he doesn't agree with illegal immigrants or Mexicans and in Norway shape or form will that affect me. His own opinions and thoughts are his and shouldn't matter to anyone. His thoughts will not affect these people either. He's a man and sometimes they say stupid things so folks, get over it. Stating the obvious here.

He can say what ever he chooses- this is why I said he can say stupid things because what does that matter to you? Exactly nothing I assume. People say the most outrageous things but him being outspoken keeps him from being a talented actor? No. Will that keep him from continuing to be a talented director? Nope. Like I said everyone has their own opinion, he was just stupid and outspoken about his stupid opinions. That's it. Just let it go people. Stop worrying about the stupidest beep Crazy actors are among us world!

You asked why people hate on him. You got your answer: because he's a dick. You didn't ask: "Why do people consider him a bad actor?" The answer probably would be: "Nobody thinks he is." (I should add that I don't think he's a
great
actor but I don't think anybody believes he's really bad unless they are maybe comparing him to other famous actors.)
For some reason you invent the false dichotomy that he's either a hated figure and a bad actor or a beloved superstar and a good actor. Why is it inconceivable to you that he's called out for the beep he said and still gets his talent acknowledged?
And why do you supposed free speech types always fail to grant the freedom of speech to people who criticize what others said? -

It's only a matter of time before the pro-Mel Gibson Gestapo will have this level-headed and well-reasoned response deleted.

I think he is talking to you bhikki.
Really? I think he's talking to the pro-Mel Gibson Gestapo. Have I ever even ONCE made any comment concerning Mel Gibson's films or acting ability? No.

The star of the film Gibson is currently filming, Andrew Garfield, is Jewish
That is calculated damage control. Hiring someone does not mean that you approve of their religion. Mel Gibson thinks that Andrew Garfield is going to hell and that the Jews caused all of the world's wars. Mel Gibson is a Nazi monster.

The star of the film Gibson is currently filming, Andrew Garfield, is Jewish
-and met with Gibson before the filming started, so Garfield (along with everyone else who joined the project) knows Gibson does not hate Jews or anyone because of course he is not a Nazi. Keep ignoring the facts that don't support your ridiculous claim that he "always hates Jews", bhikkhu.
