Serious Q: Why is Mel hated on?

He was very, very angry with the press, especially after being roasted almost every day by the Los Angeles Times when filming, pre-production and post-productions for The Passions of the Christ, it was never about the relationship between Gibson and the Jewish community, the media fire began when the first draft of The Passion film script leaked out. If the films script had never leaked out, the Jews would have never had their hands on the script. What I want to know is, who leaked the script? The liberal media has never liked Mel Gibson. So all of this was gold to them. The media said there would be violence against Jews if the film was released. No one had seen the film at that point. The media always quoted "scholars" but never gave any names of those scholars. All the things the media and the Jewish community said would happened the violence against Jews, never happened and they put him and his family through hell. No one apologized to him for the those false claims. The media didn't want the film to succeed but all the free PR was want drew the audience1c84 to the theaters. So it all back fired on them all. Those attacks created a deep anger in him and that's when he started to drink again. He's been an alcoholic for a very long time. I think it all came to a head on that night on the pacific coast highway. He was drunk and was reliving a painful time. But, its nice that you provide a link to TMZ. They are right up there with the National Enquirer and the Star.

So I take it you know Mel Gibson personally ? Just because y'know when some one spouts an ignorant and highly arrogant reply like this . Its because they got some inside information. And know Gibson personally. IF Not then your arrogant and highly rude and ignorant opinion does not matter . and as you told that poster,That invitation from MENSA isn't coming for you either.

Personally, I dont believe in hating. But your answer is ridiculous. The reason he has lost the affection of millions (and its a moot point whether anyone should ever offer up such adoration to people they don't know) is a series of alcohol and nonalcohol driven tirades and abuse directed at various groups including women, gays, and jews over many years. This on the back of a supposed hard core commitment to a particular brand of Catholicism, which clearly he was in fact unable to live up to himself. The hypocrisy only makes his awful behaviour more appalling. Mel was a very good actor, but his hypocritical, judgemental and tawdry attitude towards other people has so overshadowed his films that I can't watch them without my distaste for him rising up. Judging people on the basis of their colour, gender etc is wrong, but on the basis of their observed behaviours over many years, it's how communities police themselves and create a decent society. His apologies have often been superseded by more disgusting public displays of hate, so they are invalid. Charity may be a good thing, I'm not saying a person who does bad things can't have also done good things, but maybe you need to get over your celebrity adoration. And wonder how you'd feel if his behaviour was directed at you and yours?

It could be that simple. But since I've heard far worse Family Guy jokes against Jews, I wonder if the problem has more to do with his incredibly powerful Jesus movie. -

Yes, Mel says in an interview that he was called anti-semetic by some who had not even seen the film. He did say he harbored some resentment because of that. He was hurt by that, for Jesus is his ultimate hero, and he made that film for him with his own money as a personal tribute, and Jesus is a Jew.
My preacher would tell us how Jesus was tortured just like that when I was little. It's the same story. I never thought it was anti-semetic and neither did a LOT of Rabbis I listen to on podcasts.
When one hates a certain people they
don't
sleep/make love to them, and he did, with a Jewish woman. So, he doesn't hate Jews. Drunk people say the dumbest things anyway.

I suppose his apology wasn't orchestrated by a massively well-orchestrated PR machine in an attempt to salvage one of the most successful careers in Hollywood history, right?
C'mon! The guy is a fruit loop. Now, I love his older filmsI'll still watch and enjoy them, but I have no illusions about the man. He's a racist, an anti-Semite, and a misogynist with a freaky, incredibly dangerous violent streak.
If he keeps himself under control, I'll watch films he's in, but that doesn't mean he's changedonly that the multimillion dollar machine that props up his image has managed to successfully go into damage control mode.
