I think these lists people are submitting vary based on the person's age. I'm 51, and Tom Hanks is my generation's Gene Hackmanwhich hopefully means he has many more good films left in him! The Academy be damned!
My favorites:
The Burbs
Volunteers
Money Pit
Apollo 13

- Saving Private Ryan-Good movie with some of the most realistic, harrowing battle scenes in a movie. “Sergeant, we have crossed some strange boundary here. Our world has taken a turn for the surreal”.
- Forrest Gump-The movie would be ranked at number if it wasn’t for the ending.
- Philadelphia-A slightly underrated eye-opening movie about life. I’m glad Tom Hanks won an Oscar for this movie, even if it wasn’t without its share of imperfections.
- Cast Away-Underrated classic survival tale that’s well crafted.
- Sleepless in Seattle-Just because I’m a sucker for movies set in Seattle.
“There are no atheists in foxholes, eh?”-Keith Jennings from the Omen.
