lmao. Tommy Lee Jones is real and is not going to kiss his fans asses and doesn't want fans kissing his ass. He wants to be an actor and not deal with the celebrity bullsh-t. Fans need to respect that and stop thinking they are entitled to special attention from celebrities. If I saw Tommy Lee Jones out I wouldn't be gushing over him and begging him for handshakes and autographs. I would respect his privacy and leave him alone and then later tell my friends "Oh I saw Tommy Lee Jones" today. I wouldn't want to shake the hands of people I don't know either. And why can't he shop without someone begging for his autograph. Some celebrities get off on that beccause they like to feel like they are God maybe Tommy Lee doesn't. Sure he has a bit of a temper on him that he needs to control maybe, but I understand somewhat where's he's coming from. And I laughed at that story of that lady in the store hassling him while he's shopping going "OMG it's Tommy Lee" lame bitch, let the man shop. He's not Michael Jackson or Britney Spears. He doesn't beg for celebrity or attention just because he acts in movies. And he doesn't owe them any handshakes or autographs. He probably despises playing the hollywood game that's all. That's the impression I get from him. Though he does need to control his temper somewhat.

most actors that have made it have SPS Sensory Processing Sensitivity.
This means the creative side of their brain is dominant - they are right brained.
These people have finely tuned nervous systems - they are abnormally sensitive, in all areas, physical or emotional stimuli.
they are overcome easily by emotion. loud noises, strong odours, people's bad vibes etc, can overstimulate these people.
This causes them to shut down. With TLJ he is easily irritated when he is not in a low stimulating, quiet, simple environment. This is because being in the glitz and glamour BS environment for TLJ would be very emotionally exhausting. he seems to be a 'no small talk allowed' kinda guy. not to be rude, but because he sees it as pointless and phony.
To even give a facial expression requires too much effort when overwhelmed.
These people are very easily upset, but they are gifted in the arts. They make up 20% of the population. 80% of people just don't "get them" and this leads to isolation, chemical dependencies etc. -

Interesting post serratedteeth, sure does explain a lot.
I am a huge TLJ fan and would hope if I went up to him he wouldn't be rude though, I've liked him since I was a kid and it would be very disappointing. I know they get things like that a lot but still, really they should be prepared to deal with it. Even if they don't want a full blown conversation they could just say "nice to meet you" and shake your hand or take a picture and then leave.
Well, did you ever ask yourself what you're doing screwing a psychopath in the first place? - Billy -

Emma, I'll take your word for your experience and give Mr Jones credit for having a bad day etc.. That just happened to be my experience with him and had I tried to speak with him and he ignored me without a sound I wouldn't have been nearly as botheredIt was his assumption that he was important enough that I'd just Have to talk to him during the flightI'm glad you had a different experience, and I still watch his work, just don't care for him personally

Those two incidents don't sound all that rude or mean at all. I have heard that he is a little gruff and short with people, and he's certainly been that way in every inteda0rview I have seen of him. But what do you want?

this guy seems pretty genuine to himself atleast he's not attempting to impress the public seeing as many celebrities these days are always trying to save face for the sake of their image. tommy lee is tommy lee, he is just human, and a badass at that which makes him all the sexier.

there's a big difference in trying to impress the public and being a complete a-h0le to a lot of people, especially those who are just trying to say something nice to him. it's wrong to hassle anybody but is it such a hassle for somebody to just say something nice to you??? he needs a wake up call.

I seriously don't get actors who get irritated when people approach them on the street. I mean, what do they expect? It comes with the territory; deal with it.
Personally I don't find anything appealing about a grouchy old man. -

The guy is obviously rude and nasty when people disturb him, personally I wouldn't mind because I think he's incredibly hot when he's angry! LOL

I think the kind of exposure famous people get these days leads us5b4 all to demand that they be accesible in a way that we do not expect from anyone else. To him acting is a job. Period. Nobody stares at, approaches, stalks, grabs and tries to cuddle and compliment and ask dumb questions of their plumber every time he steps outside his front door do they? How sick would the plumber get being asked with awe and anticipation about the various drains he unclogs all day and everyday?
My friend who's a doctor has a smiliar problem. At every social event she goes to someone will attempt to showcase some disturbingly unappetizing growth in their buttcrack or wherever. She never takes a look anymore, but asks them to make an appointment if they wish to consult her. Most people find that to be rude, which is really unfair. -

Ultimately Tommy Lee Jones is a great actor, and I have endless respect for him as a performer. But a lot of actors need to realise that fame is part of the contract, and that they're only successful because of the fans who flock to watch their films. Keeping up a good image and being approachable is part of the job.
Tommy Lee Jones will leave a legacy as a performer but not as a person or a personality - because there's nothing there. The truly great actors are the ones you hear good stories about; Harrison Ford who stopped to help fix a couple's car once when they'd broken down, or the time he saved a stranded mountaineer in his chopper. Oliver Reed who would always have drinks in pubs with his fans. Robert Preston who always invited audience members backstage during his Broadway shows to ask him questions. Those are three of many examples. I think the image we have of people like that is worth far more.
Regardless, Jones is a great actor. I don't care to meet him.
