Does it really matter? You donβt think Elvis was a creation as well?
The point is she had an eye for choosing the right material and always bringing newer and better stuff. She set so many trends and always created so much controversy.

I agree. And notice that she does NOT look like that picture everyone loves to bring up with the braids and overfilled lips and cheeks? I think she was swollen, too soon after surgery/procedures, and I think she's had some of that dissolved/corrected, and she's looking a lot better. I'll admit, the shaved eyebrows didn't really suit her.
I'll always think of her as the Material Girl, but she also was such a trend setter and unafraid to reinvent herself over and over and over. She was daring and bold. She has a legacy and her music has set records. A pioneer that others tried to emulate but couldn't.

Chrissy Amphlett of the divinyls called Madonna contrived back in the 1980s.
Bjork was not impressed by Madonna during the 1990s when she co wrote a song that someone in her circle gave the song to Madonna to record.
I recall Stevie Nicks shooting down Madonna a number of times.
It took years for her to be more accepted by her peers.
Elton John coitized her many times.

Madonna got on a lot of people's nerves early in her career.
I don't know how Madonna got to become an accepted icon. I thought that Madonna's fanbase were the ones that she established back in her Like A Virgin and True Blue albums. And those fans all aged with her.
