I haven't seen Hat or Guru, but I was a huge fan of the first two Austin movies & I think I only made it about 45 minutes into Goldmember before I shut it off in disgust & proceeded to find every person who told me it was "SOOO FUNNY" to berate them for being idiots. Other than the Austinpussy skit(which I found mildly entertaining), there was nothing I found even remotely entertaining in the 45 minutes I mab68naged to watch of that **** bomb.

one of the biggest mysteries in the world is why most people hate this movie and say its' a horrible movie not worth anything. it's a really good movie maybe even a great movie. i really enjoyed it. it's so brilliant and genius and original.
the story, his character, the genius comedic acting by myers the ways he does things with his character and the funny lines that are so clever and genius make the love guru a really good movie.
i think it was too clever and unique and different for people to understand it and thus like it. so that's just on them.

I recon Myers was the best thing in love guru. He was the best actor with the best timing, even though his writing wasn't very good. The poor supporting cast turned love guru from mediocre to bad.
myers in IB was good, theres nothing not to like. He managed a few s******* while also playing an important character. -

He's had an odd career, but 'cat in the hat', pretty much from there his career has been nose diving ever since, Shrek movies have kept him around. The Love Guru was an awful film imo, not funny at all, maybe if I was 12.
I grew up with some of his films like Waynes World, and So I married an axe murderer, Austin powers, and they were really funny films, but I think the well is empty now. If he wants to still be around he needs to reivent himself 16d0again, maybe that's what he's doing with the inglorious basterds part. -

I agree 100% with your post. Hopefully he's come to the point in his career he can try his hand at dramatic roles. Inglorious proved that he can pull it off, but I think with some theater work could help him with that. Unlike Adam Sandler, who used up the last of his funny 15 years ago, I really want Meyers to make it. One more film like "Love Guru", though, and I'll regret saying that.

what are you talking about? justin timberlake is great and verne troyer is great and it was such a lovable and touching tribute to verne, myers working with verne again and beautifully one last time.
the writing is great, very clever original and unique and intelligent writing

Didn't see Love Guru or Cat so I ca't comment. I think it's a tie between Goldmember and Shrek 3. I'd probably go with the latter though, Goldmember has its moments.

I don't think any of his movies are particularly funny. It seems his thing is to constantly do an English or Scottish accent as a tribute to his father, and ignore whether the material is funny or (just as importantly) the characters are any good.
The Love Guru
seemed to be the film where people finally noticed that his act isn't all that funny. Furthermore, Myers likes to do jokes to death. -

To PhizzyG, I saw
Wayne's World
about a year after it came out on cable. I should say that I didn't even like it as an "SNL" skit. It really surprised me that I like the second
WW
flick. I saw the first two
Austin Powers
movies some years after they came out. Still haven't seen the third one and I'm not in a big rush to do so neither.
