As martial artist and actor Van Damme, 63, recently spoke with the U.K.'s The Telegraph about his career and long-running feud with Seagal, 71, Van Damme recalled that film producer and executive Peter Guber once wanted to promote a fight between Van Damme and Seagal, who have publicly feuded with each other dating back to the 1990s.
“They were having an idea to have a fight between me and Steven at The Mirage [in Las Vegas],” Van Damme told the outlet. “Twenty million each. He didn’t take the fight." -

Seagal would have won, easily. The reason you don't see aikido in mma is because it is banned for being too deadly. I have a lot of respect for Seagal turning down that fight. Van Damme would have been in danger of losing his life.

The philosophy of Aikido is centered on harmony (Ai), spiritual strength (Ki), peace, and following the Aikido way (Do). The art’s philosophy is to meet a physical attack with the avoidance of violence by seizing control of the situation and neutralizing the attack with an outcome where no one is hurt.
Kind of a moot point though. According to the philosophy of aikido Seagal won the fight by declining it.
