pathetic i mean chuck norris stopped action movies 20 years ago
-
Jim Shortz — 3 years ago(August 29, 2022 09:51 PM)
each of them were very unique and sperate from each other bc of their uniqueness: we had the toughest and baddest ass and unstoppable force of arnold. the cheeky, self deprecating sometimes, but other times razor sharp, super focused, very tough sylvester. the karate fighting chuck norris who had a no nonsense attitude and line delivery.
Stallone is number 1 for me. Mostly because I like his acting, he can show emotion as well as kick ass. Arnold is also great. Chuck Norris is underrated, I like all his movies, especially his cannon ones.
he was so great in rocky 4, and in universal soldier. my favorite of his: showdown in little tokyo.
Yeah, all great movies. Dolph's best acting was in Universal Soldier. He stole the show in that movie. I think Universal Soldier was one of the last great 80s-style action movies that came out.
one of my favorites in the '80s was michael dudikoff. he made a great, everlasting memorable and lovable character in american ninja and american ninja 2: the confrontation. part 2 is one of my all time favorite movies. and steve james made one of the best characters in action movie history in part 1 and part 2
Dudikoff is great. Avenging Force is a good one.
Are you a fan of Bruce Willis?
in america we had so many colorful, lovable action movie stars to watch and love in the '80s. it truly was a once in a lifetime time in movie history which we will never see ever again.
Yeah, watching their movies saves us from a world of dwayne johnson, vin diesel and female action heroes. -
lukejbarnett — 3 years ago(August 31, 2022 02:48 AM)
ha ha i just watched avenging force for the first time a few months ago. not a bad movie. it was not in the stratosphere of american ninja or a n 2 though but what is as far as am 2?
hey i finally watched action jackson about a year ago and wow this is a great action movie now not a classic but as close to a classic as you can get.
what i loved and appreciated about it is finally, finally carl weathers got his own action movie where he is the star and when he was still in his prime when he still looked young and great and very heroic and very strong physically. i love that bc of this film he is an actin movie legend. c every a m legend needs a leading role, star vehicle in an action movie.
do you love this movie? do you love carl weathers as an action movie star?
bruce willis is my favorite hollywood actor of all time.
yeah woke **** nowadays in every movie.
so did you like me grow up in the '80s and watch these impressionable action heroes in these classic films?
you're right bc something happened in 1993 the year after universal soldier where action movies started lacking a lot. thank goodness for jackie chan's emergence in america in 1996! he saved action movies for a few years at least.
it worked for arnold being an action movie star bc his roles never required much emotion or acting. he just kind of was brooding and the quiet hero. so it never hurt his movie or roles until he got to a movie he had to really act in the movie; the 6th day his worst movie.

Yeah I enjoyed Action Jackson. Carl Weathers is charismatic & likable, I would've liked to have seen him do more films (he should've been a star in the 80s instead of Eddie Murphy who was mega huge but came across as a snarky wise ass). I think it failed because it wasn't marketed properly, and iirc critics trashed it and the gratuitous violence.
Yeah, I grew up with these classic action films. Love most of them as along as it has arnie, sly, dolph, jcvd, chuck, seagal etc in them.
you're right bc something happened in 1993 the year after universal soldier where action movies started lacking a lot.
Yeah it wasn't until the expendables came out that action movies started getting good again. I've liked most of the arnold and stallone films since.
the 6th day his worst movie
I thought that was ok. I've never been able to finish End of Days. That sucked. -
lukejbarnett — 3 years ago(August 31, 2022 07:00 PM)
but didn't the expendables have the rock? yeah so weird how weathers didnt have a follow up action movie to action jackson wonder why his career ended right after his first leading role action movie?
everything about this film is great. it has the luscious and impossibly beautiful sharon stone when she was her best looking in a movie ever. and the scorchingly hot and extremely beautiful vanity. and a very kickass and badass (surprisingly for both)and very epically great and legendary bad guy performance from craig t. nelson.
never seen him in this kind of role ever. he played his role perfectly he is menacing and intimidating and completely believable.
too bad weathers was never as badass and tough as he was in predator in any other movie.

Jim Shortz — 3 years ago(August 31, 2022 08:23 PM)
The rock wasn't in Expendables, I think Sly intended it to just be old school guys or guys under the radar. The rock would've ruined that. There was a few guys who turned down the expendables like Kurt Russell. Also, you'd think Carl Weathers would be in Expendables instead of Terry Crews but he had a falling out with Sly about his image being used in Rocky V.
Yeah, I agree with everything you said about Action Jackson. It's a decent action film. -
lukejbarnett — 3 years ago(August 31, 2022 09:10 PM)
its wrong how terry crews was in it bc hes not in the in the same universe of action movie as all the other guys.
i mean crews is not even an action move actor hes a kind a serious maybe but mostly funny guy with muscles.
also ronda freaking rousey is in part 3 so is that where you checked out of this series where this series jumped the shark?
so what year were you born in? i was born in 1978. this is an important thing bc it will tell me if you really grew up with '80s stuff or just caught the tail end of the '80s like '88 or '89.

Tbf he was just an alternate for Sly's former Demolition Man co star Wesley Snipes, since Snipes was in the slammer at the time they made the first expendables. I can't remember but was Crews killed off? They replaced Jet Li, I remember that. Shame Kurt Russell couldn't show up and have a Tango and Cash reunion. Same with Brian Thompson from Cobra and Michael Rooker from Cliffhanger.
I actually liked the third one, I think they kept Rousy and the other noobs in the background, just there to be rescued.
I was born in the 80s. I watched stallone films from birth, rocky and rambo. Lundgren was also a big feature, rocky 4 & he man. Then arnie as terminator. These guys are legends. -
lukejbarnett — 3 years ago(August 31, 2022 09:13 PM)
so what is arnold's worst movie do you think? junior? what is sly's worst movie do you think? i watched stop of my mom will shoot! and that has to be this worst movie.
really bad unfunny humor and no direction and off on the tone of comedy and serious action that movie was all over the place in tone and was bad in every way.

Arnie's worst movies (that i've seen) are Junior, Maggie and End of days.
Sly's worst are Driven and Sky Kids. I actually like Stop or My mom will Shoot (and his other comedy Oscar), probably just nostalgia as I watched them as a kid, but they're ok I think. -

can you at least give me a range so were you born from 80-83?
bc if later like 86 you weren't growing up in the '80s

I didn't say I grew up in the 80s. I grew up with 80s pop culture from my earliest memories. -

who are you? you gave me this full impression of someone who grew up in the '80s bc you grew up watching '80s action movies and you also said they made the best action movies the guys like arnold which on its own means you probably grew up in the '80s bc kids 10 years after my generation have different likes and preferences of actors and music and tv shows and movies.
so all this adds up to an '80s kid. im very confused right now. bc a guy who is about 10 years younger than me at my work didnt watch the same '80s sports as i did bc he wasnt' around then. so he has different favorite players of all time than i do bc of this.
its hard to change this its the way you are you only know what you experienced.
and so naturally he likes '90s and after rap music more than '80s rap music it seems whereas i prefer '80s rap music over '90s and after.
when you grow up is almost always what you like the most bc that is what you know.

Well, I'm an 80s and early 90s kid. I remember the music, movies and tv from 87 onwards.
The 90s sucked for the most part. Horrible grunge, gangster rap, boy/girls bands. It was a dark age. -

you said this: I didn't say I grew up in the 80s. I grew up with 80s pop culture from my earliest memories. so did you grow in the '80s or not? bc this sounds conflicting in one you said you grew up with 80s pop culture in the other statement it says you didn't say you grew up in the '80s?
again if you just told me the year you were born i'd know right away if you grew up in the '80s. so what year were you born in?
it sounds like you were born around 82 but you still haven't told me what year you were born in?
exactly the '90s was the beginning of the end for the arts. most music, tv and movies were getting crappy by the '90s especially by the late '90s with all the meaningly valueless cop shows on tv, gangsta rap, grunge music which was never that good, boy bands like 'n sync and backstreet boys which was the worst of pop music of all time. really dumb and bad toys, and watering down and less artistic movies starting around '99.
oh and really bad sitcoms like friends and all those other crappy shows that were "so great" to the mainstream. but are actually barely watchable and dumb disposable tv shows.

Close. 1984.
I'd say growing up in the 80s means being born in mid to late 70s. I only remember the tail end of that decade, but grew up on all things 80s. It's in my soul pretty much. I guess I see myself as an 80s kid even if technically I'm not. The early 90s, in my opinions, were still kinda the 80s. The proper 90s didn't kick in til 92/93.
One band that sums up the 90s is nine inch nails, and their downward spiral record. Utter trash music. Worst ever.
The only good things in the 90s was stuff made by bands/film makers who'd made good stuff in the 80s. The reason why films are **** now is that guys making films/music in the 80s are mostly gone or retired now. Replaced by sjw's. -

why didn't you just say that the first time i asked you what year you were born in? geez that would have made this much easier on me.
so you only remember 1989 right? bc most people start remembering things when they are 5.
but i thought you said you grew up in the '80s or at least remembered the year 1987.
wow you remember something from when you were only 3? 3?
what is sjw?
the new generation of films is ****. there just aren't many luminaries in film anymore like there were in the '80s and before. iconoclasts like spielberg, scrocese, coppola are not around anymore.
the best we have now is nolan and the wachawski bros but even they are **** and are done with great films now bc their excuse for a film the abysmal jupiter ascending is the worst piece of **** hollyood film ever made.
though on the bright side we sill do have the greatness that is wes anderson, linklater, p.t. anderson, the coen brothers, tarantino if he can work without dicaprio that is whom i can't stand personally i refuse to watch any new movie with him since his once upon a time in america.
so if you weren't an '80-s kid why did you watch so many '80s movies?
yeah the same thing happened in the early '80s, the first 2 years of the '80s looked and felt like the '70s in movies. this is why the first 2 friday the 13th films look and feel like a '70s movie. they have that old '70s aesthetic to the film look.
even in music this happened bc there is an early '80s song by styx that sounds '70s and '80s at the same time. it's the song too much time on my hands. it has the old school '70s hard rock guitar sound and the new at the time synthesizers of the '80s.
also the film universal soldier 1992 you said is the last '80s style action movie. and critter 3 from 1991 looks and feels like an '80s movie with the film quality.
not a nin fan huh? i liked them in the '90s.
yeah filmmakers like sam raimi larry cohen and stuart gordon continued making great films in the '90s like they did in the '80s.

I have a pretty good memory. I can trace my earliest memory to two years old. I vividly remember being 3, 4 and 5. The tail end of the 80s are very vivid to me. Because I remember it so well I feel a connection to the 80s.
an sjw is a Social Justice Warrior aka the people ruining our societies.
so if you weren't an '80-s kid why did you watch so many '80s movies?
My first memories of going to the cinema was summer movies from 88-89 eg honey i shrunk the kids, batman, bill & ted's, last crusade. Rented a lot of movies from local video store - all 80s films. All music was 80s as we had MTV and mtv still mostly played 80s music even in the early 90s. All tv was 80s shows as well. It remained that way all throughout childhood.
I have no connection to 90s culture because it sucked and I preferred 80s even then.

cool then we already have something in common bc i have a photographic memory. i can't really forget anything that i experience.
love it. no wonder i can't remember what sjw stands for bc i abhor these ****ing liberals trying to do inappropriate things like making our kids change their gender and change their name from female name to man name in school all while behind their parents' backs without telling the parents about it.
and doing to this all to 9 year olds who don't even have any sexual thoughts or sexuality, gender thoughts. indoctrinating them grooming them to be gay or transgender. this is the biggest injustice in american history. and is an example of socialism separating parents from their children so the children are under the government's control.
even kids are contemplating changing their gender shouldn't be able to do this to themself until they are 18.

I agree with what you said about this climate we're living in. This liberal stuff has gotten way out of control. It just came from nowhere the past 10-15 years. What caused it? Millenials? That's true for the most part. I was different because I had a really good local video rental store, not that blockbuster ****, a real family owned business. Thousands of vhs titles across a big store. Loved going there every weekend. 99% of videos rented were 80s (I consider films from 90/91 more or less 80s movies, since they were written or filmed in the 80s).
Same with music. All I heard was 60s-80s music. No time for 90s **** grunge.

now while i generally dislike talking politics bc its so divisive and fight encouraging and destructive of friends and family and people in general to talk it when someone agrees with me like you i like talking politics.
i love how you use common sense with your arguments here. the big picture the overarching theme of this socialist Marxist agenda being forced down our throats by the progressive liberals is so obviously glaringly wrong. it so unamerican and not democracy.
so you noticed this 10 years ago? bc i only noticed it in the last 6 years since trump ran for president. what i noticed was the over politicized and hostile political environment.
suddenly everyone everywhere was talking political in a very aggressive combative way. politics used to be in the background it didnt ever strike into my life but ever since trump ran for president in 2016 it has been front and center and outspoken and right in my face i couldn't avoid hear about it anymore even if i tried. geez. wtf happened this is horrible bc it divides people this whole rhetoric of the parties fighting and politics in general divides people.
i heard all the divisiveness between republicans and democrats started when obama was president. but i never felt it then i guess bc i didn't follow politics at all until about 2 years ago and only bc of the pandemic.
yeah critical race theory a racist thing is beyond inappropriate and harmful to children. it states that if you are white you are the perpetrator against black people and if you are black you are a victim of racism from whites that all whites take away opportunities from black people.
this is a highly destructive thing to children. young child who are not teens don't even think about race. this is separating them emotionally from each other bc the whites are feeling guilty and distancing themselves form black out of guilt and the blacks are distancing themselves from the while bc they feel they've been treated wrong. and it separates them just out of principle of the whole thing; in general.
oh so you are not an american born citizen? what country do you live in now? what country did you grow up in?
