Why has her career turned to *beep*

She just never lucked into a big role after Casino. If she had appeared in more hits, she'd probably be able to build on those with better roles. Flops like Sphere, Gloria, Catwoman, and Basic Instinct 2 just destroyed any hope of getting roles. I think it's been over 20 years since she appeared in an even modestly successful film!
Look at an actress relatively close in age to her- Famke Janssen- who never reached the same household name status, yet has done much better career wise in the last 20 years. It's all because she lucked out with a couple hit movies that have sustained her career into her 50s. -

Because all her movie roles after "Casino" ranged from forgettable to terrible. She made a long series of really bad script choices. She had won respect as an serious actress with "Casino" but failed to capitalize as that.
The final nail in the coffin was Basic Instinct 2;a good example of a sequel that nobody wanted, and her attempts to relaunch her career.Sadly, though, trying to revive her most famous role was a total failure.

probably make a fortune for doing it. There is a point where aging sex symbols are wise to cash out with one final mega paycheck, if they can. Because the same amount of money is unlikely to come their way again.

Her best movie role was Above The Law with Steven Seagal where she had zero lines. I can picture Seagal telling her to just look pretty and keep your mouth shut or I'll break your face. Anytime she open her mouth it isn't a good thing. She's really bad. Just watch Scissors. She's easy on the eyes though, I'll give her that.

Bad choices in the 90's after Casino, after that she only had a few moderate hit movies unfortunately. Even though Michelle Pfeiffer was great in Batman Returns, Id love to of seen Sharon Stone in that role, which she coveted.

by the time she made her first major film appearance in total recall she was already in her 30s for one thingabout 5 yrs after she did basic instinct she turned 40. so her window of opportunity was smaller than most starlets who come to prominence in their early 20s.
and secondly i dont think sharon stone was ever THAT big of a star. if you look at her filmography's box office she literally only has 2 domestic grosses over 100 million and those are the 2 i previously mentioned.
off the top of my head if someone told me to list the biggest actresses of the 90s she would likely not be mentioned. id think of sandra bullock, julia roberts, meg ryan, demi moore and jodie fosterto name a few.
however, all of that said, i have to disagree with people saying sharon stone cant cant, she can. she's bee great in a lot of movies, whether they were hits or not is beside the point. -

Sharon Stone should have done smart comedy stuff after Basic Instinct the closest thing to what that movie was but she instead went down a humorless genre hole (Sliver, Quick and the Dead, Specialist, Sphere). She was good in the Albert Brooks movie The Muse but, by then, no one cared about her anymore I always wonder if Hollywood didn't give her much to do because they knew something that might get out about her something incriminating.

i don't know what it is actually i kind of think hollywood just never really appreciated or respected her i think that's the main reason why you never see her in any big movies anymore. maybe it was catwoman? maybe that is the movie that killed her career?
