I can't believe how few threads there are on this board. I haven't seen much, but I am curious how people rate his work.

I have seen most of Altman's work from the 60's onward, and I'd put McCabe & Mrs Miller firm;y at the top, with MASH, Long Goodbye, and Nashville following. In that 3-4 year period he was masterful

Altman retrospective? Nice.
Images: I thought everything about it was really excellent. The high point for me was the editing. Of course all the illusions are handled really well but there are other big standouts such as the scene in which the woman sees herself going into the house from the mountain and then the perspective shifts to her inside the house. It's a startling moment that helps maintain the film's unsettling atmosphere. Overall it's a nicely surreal film and an interesting stylistic departure for Altman.
