Extra baggage does not alter an actor's abilities. Aging happens to all of us. It's the love of your craft - things like attention to details, both subtle and obvious; charisma in front of the camera and on stage; and the educated use of the tools of a fine performer that showcase an actor's talents. I've seen most of his work - sadly, not live on stage, as I live on1354 the east coast - and I find him intriging, talented, charismatic, funny and SEXY at any age!

Agreed, but I think some of the confusion comes from the fact that when you look at something like that interview he did in January 2008
      http://www.associatedcontent.com/video/28155/robert_beltran_interview. html?cat=60
and now just a year later he's overweight and gray (in the season premiere of Big Love for example), you have to wonder what happened. No idea about the 2005 movie the OP mentioned, but in the 2008 interview he looks to be in good shape.

Could be any number of reasons for weight gain - medical, gaining for a theatrical role, a family crisis, age, an injury that won't allow for exerciseHe's been grey for a while now - he just covered it. I for one am glad to see him on a series since I can't get to L.A. for any live performances.

If I described Robert Beltran as fat, it is because in "Manticore" he is indeed overweight, I did not mean to be disrespectful. I admire Robert Beltran, I always enjoyed both his looks and his acting. I agree that he will be able to progress as an actor even if he is overweight and showing wrinkles and gray hair. Maybe I feel some nostalgia of the 1980's and 1990's when Robert Beltran was one of my favorite hunks. I was shocked to see that unlike e.g. Richard Gere and other mature actors, Robert (who still looks good) had put on weight and so lost part of his appeal to me. Anyway, even overweight I still find him interesting to watch even if (in my opinion) "Manticore" did not allow him to showcase his acting skills.

I need to go back and watch Manticore again - but I can tell you that military uniforms - even costume ones - are very, very bulky and add about 15 plus pounds. The helmets don't help with the overall 'padded' look either!

It's called getting older. Robert was never what you would call thin to begin b68with.

That's so sad how he's gotten fat. It really is tragic when a hot guy goes downhill.
Happens to everyone, but when you're working in Hollywood and your paycheck depends on your hot body, guess it's time to find another day job.

How can you tell hes fat? He isnt. Friends of mine met him a couple of month ago at Petrborough and they told us that he`s very good looking and fit.
There are many pictures from this event "The greatest show in the galaxy Peterborough".
You can also have a look at the pics from Vegas this year.
