It is the beginning of 2008-time to let the past go.
I have been a fan of Robert Beltran for many years and I can assure you that his career did not begin or end with ST Voyager.
As a talented & accomplished actor, he has portrayed many roles over the years. Best known as Commander Chakotay, he has "brought to life" many other characters all of which are mentioned on the "filmography" page on this site. His work with Shakespeare's plays has always been dear to his heart & his acting work-shops have inspired many young performers.
What difference does his political affiliation, sexual preference, and other personal issues have to do with his impressive work? I have said things in moments of frustration that I would take back if I could. Why be held accountable for words spoken in anger more than six years ago? Think about it. Most of us have experienced something similar and can see the unforgiveness in it.
Yes, he is outspoken (love it!) and one of his most endearing qualities. To be comfortable enough with yourself to express your opinion, no matter what anyone else thinks, is true freedom.
No, he is not Eddie Guerrero, Tony Montero, or Commander Chakotay; he is Robert Adame Beltran-actor- and a really fine one. Anyone who requires more than that has deeper issues that cannot be addressed here.
I look forward to more, and better things from Robert Beltran.
He deserves our admiration for his dedication to his craft, not unending criticism for expressing his opinion when he is unhappy with the censorship from TPTB. We should support him in his acting career and stop the neverending speculation about his personal life. He deserves better than this from his fans.
