Tom used to be a hunk but not he looks awful. Why do so many men let themselves go so badly? Do what you can to perserve your looks like women do. If you think looks didn't get you where you are then you're fooling yourself. Granted, he's a good actor but people like eye candy and that's why aging stars really don't get as much work because they don't look as good anymore. It's not fair, but it's reality.

Oh yeah, he's totally let himself go, he should totally get some work done like Mickey Rourke or something and look like a frigging wax sculpture, you know, because he's like 62 years old, and who needs these amazing, distinguished looking actors running around adding credibility and realism to the projects they work on?
Sheesh, isn't it bad enough that Hollywood is turning perfectly beautiful women into plastic-surgery freak-shows, now you want more ruined men?
At least Tom seems to have healed from those nasty scars he was sporting in Platoon. -

Well, it is a fact, but it is a shame. He is and has always been a great actor. He is very subtle and can do any number of roles, all different, and still be great. He shouldn't be stereotyped - he's too good for that. And when the part calls for an accent, it's always perfect. But he was gorgeous. How could anyone pay much attention to his acting, when they were not able to look away from that face?
We should not judge people by their appearence, but we do. And when someone is to die for and sexy, then has the audacity to get older and gain weight - well, that is the unforgiveable sin. Imagine how he must feel, himself. I'm sure he hates it, and feels that it's unfair, and that no one ever paid attention to his talent.
61 is not that old. There are actors out there who are older, and still look good. He will too, in time, if he does what anyone should do - eat right and excercise. Nothing succeeds like success, and as he does better, he'll continue to do even better than that. And when he's back to where he wants to be, he'll still be a terrific actor. This is not Troy Donahue we're talking about.

I had the pleasure, in 2009, of becoming casual acquaintances with Mr. Berenger at a coffee shop where I was a barista. He is still quite handsome, I assure you. He is also polite, charming, and a generous tipper. It was truly my pleasure to make his acquaintance.

i think he also should take care of himself. i don't expect him to look like he did when he was 40. nobody here does. but he should quit drinking & smoking. & lose a lot of weight. cause like someone here said looks in hollywood are what gets you the roles. regardless how old you are. that new mini-series Hatfiles & McCoys my parents were watching it the other night.
& didn't even notice he was even IN THE FILM! cause of how much weight he's put on. it wasn't until the end of part 1 when my dad read the credits that he even saw it was him! -

I don't see what the big deal is, it's not like he tries to sell himself as the latest heartthrob. In the grand scheme of things, he looks decent for a sixty-something. I know 40 year-olds who don't look so good.
