Why? I've been there quite often. It's fine, I suppose?

It's one of many places in Appalachia I'd like to see.

Oh, cool. Yeah, I'm from the OH-KY-WV tri-state region and know the surrounding areas extremely well. Check out Matewan, WV and the Coal Wars museum there, plus there are tons of Hatfields and McCoys sites and such nearby. Point Pleasant, WV and the Mothman museum and sites. New River Gorge obviously. Hocking Hills and Serpent Mound in Appalachian Ohio. And lots and lots of caves in Kentucky. I'm most familiar with Carter Caves.

Thanks! All of that sounds very interesting. Point Pleasant in particular has always fascinated me. The town is allegedly a hotbed for weird occurrences and paranormal activity. Land Between the Lakes in Kentucky and Tennessee is another place/area I'd love to see for much the same reason. I'm interested in places that are steeped in strange lore and history.

In that case, you should also look into the Flatwoods Monster. There is a museum dedicated to that one as well in Sutton, WV but I've not visited it.
Point Pleasant is a great town in general. If you walk along the riverfront, you can actually see portions of the Silver Bridge still in the water, there's a recreation of the 1774 battlefield on the edge of town (the source of the alleged "Cornstalk curse") and to access the TNT area where Mothman was first spotted you'll need to drive slightly out of town to the Farm Museum. It's free and worth looking at regardless and there's a nearby trail that will lead you right to the spot.
For allegedly haunted sites, there are actually two very close to me. The Ridges, formerly the Athens Lunatic Asylum, has been featured in several documentaries naming the most haunted places in the U.S. But it's now owned by Ohio University and generally only open to the public around Halloween and for other special events. (As a side note, it was a reporter for the
                  Athens Messenger
who first broke the Mothman story.)
Then there's the Moonville Tunnel in Vinton County, Ohio. Full disclaimer: I've been there countless times and have never seen anything, but there are many stories. But you'll need a truck or something similar to even get to it and probably shouldn't chance it at all if there's even an inkling of bad weather.
And Serpent Mound, as already mentioned. It's gotten a lot of interest recently from Graham Hancock types and History Channel documentaries.

                    Thanks for all the info.
I'll look into the Flatwoods Monster, and that tunnel looks familiar (I've probably seen a youtube video about it).
