Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — David Cronenberg

Anyone know anything on what Dave's planning to tackle next? I thought Maps To The Stars was great, but HATED Cosmopolis. I think Dave is better putting his own poetry into his movies, than trying to visualize someone else. Videodrome vs. Naked Lunch - there, I said it! LOL I think Dave was on a good track for Videodrome, and the whole Marshall McLuhan and Moses Znaimer thing. Subversive titillation, or sensational subversiveness? I'd like to see Dave expand on that more for our modern age and possibly the future. Where can Facebook and Twitter go? What's next after them? Will everyone become lethargic and unprofitable? Can cable companies and journalism survive? What if all the news we heard tomorrow was fake? Votes don't matter, wars don't win anything, and pharmaceutical companies are legalized genocide machines. Or to be 'politically correct' - nondiscriminatory population control. The only way profit can truly be had is by reducing the amount of buyers around the world. Less overhead, production and distribution means a greater percentage of the take, right? Is it happening now? Some could think so. Could it happen tomorrow? Might not be a bad idea. Fifty years from now? It may become the norm. Could we trust ourselves to trust anyone come that point? Those who 'know' wouldn't want to. And those who didn't know wouldn't want to either. That's what I'd like to see Dave tackle next, if he hasn't got anything better to do. LOL

I would like to know as much as you - but all channels have fallen silent as of now.

He's working on his second novel and has said that he may be done with filmmaking.
