With no, "instead of" or comparing her performance to anyone else's.I feel she should have been nominated for this role. This is one of my top favorite films and it lead me to look for her previous work and watch her present. As a life scholar, anything that intrigues me to study or research further is a godsend.

It happens all the time. Like with Samuel L. Jackson's performance in "The Caveman's Valentine". I'm really curious about the Academy's selection process for nominations.
Anyone know where I might find such informati16d0on?

Don't bet your children on this, but I believe the studios decide who they want to push for the gold man and they put together magnificent little package folders with the DVDs inside to send to all the Academy (AMPAS) members. From there I do believe a lot of calling in favours and being extra nice to people goes on.
The academy is populated by people in the movie biz, but mainly the older, richer, duller segment. Of course old fashioned cash bribery generally won't work, coz most members are stinking rich, but of course the possibility of being part of this or that upcoming project must move a helluva lot of votes around.
Personally I think the whole thing is about as honest as a three dollar bill.
But that's just me

I too agree that Pam was great as Jackie Brown. And should of receive an oscar. After seeing it, I became more familiar with her other flicks. Though I find it sad that her name isn't well known in Hollywood like other actresses. But I do find her filmograhy to interesting. When she started on in thos5b4e women prison low budget films.

She really should have gotten that Oscar! She deserved it fair and square(I hope i wrote this right). She really made Jackie come to life, and some other actresses won their Oscars just because they waved their boobs or poped their giant lips in close up(No A.J. punn intended)!
Who was her competition? Anything vaguely familiar? Who won the leading female role Oscar that year? -

I can't even remember her competition that year, and I am usually good at predicting Oscars and grammys! I know Tarentino was pissed that she didn't win. I thought she should have won it too, but you know the Oscars. I mean, remember when Angela Bassett and Laurence Fishburn should have won? Oscars. I don't know what to say about them.
