will always be considered classics of the eighties. He may have not done too many films as he got older, but there again, neither did Shirley Temple, & yet she will always be loved for the movies she did when she was only a little girl.

On his wiki page, under the section titled Death:
In the time leading up to his death, Haim shared a month-to-month rental located at the Oakwood Apartments between Burbank and the Hollywood Hills with his mother, who had breast cancer at the time. Christopher Ameruoso, Haim's neighbor for a year, said Haim sometimes could be seen wandering around the complex, "looking for companionship, looking for friends."
I'm a Gen X kid and he was maybe two years older than me and in all the movies I watched growing up. Reading that last sentence kind of struck a nerve with me and made me feel profoundly sad for him.
