I found this out by chance due to a random youtube video remembering him. It's been a few days and it's new to me. RIP John Hurt.
In a world ruled by the dead, we are forced to finally start living. -

Same here. Saw a "remembering John Hurt" thing and thought, "why do we have to remember him?". One click later and I find out he died two fricking days ago! Two fricking days! Yet I cant get away from all the trash thats considered talent today when ever they get a sandwhich.
I blame Bowie. He always was one for starting trends. -

I pity anyone who didn't know John Hurt's work. Today I was watching Planet Earth: Human Planet and the narrator was Mr. Hurt. I would rather be known for my speaking voice than anything.
Just a thought. Angelina Jolie, Cuba Gooding and Jarod Lento have Oscars but not John Hurt. -

People still think Oscars mean something in 2017? For the likes of Bacon, Cusack and Buscemi to get a nomination at this stage would almost be a stain on their legacies. The ceremony is a political joke.

John Hurt's death got less coverage than many much less talented entertainers because he was an actor rather than a "star" or a "celebrity". There's a big difference. His talent was acting, not self-promotion or making a public spectacle of himself.
