I don't recall if she took her surname from Buster Keaton or someone else. She'll work until she dies.

According to her memoir, her real name, Diane Hall, was already registered in the Actors Guild so she ultimately used her mothers maiden name, Keaton, instead. Michael 'Douglas' then changed his name to Keaton because he liked her name. I think. Interesting how people change their names and what they decide to change them to.
