Not worried about a confrontation. Diane Kruger slammed the late Peter OToole as the meanest actor shes ever worked with in during a candid, recent interview with BuzzFeed.
Chatting with her Sky costar, Norman Reedus, the actress, 39, revealed why she didnt enjoy working with OToole on the set of their 2004 action film, Troy.
Um, you know who wasnt very pleasant, was Peter OToole, Kruger divulged to the Walking Dead actor, 47. I know! It kind of sucked. Hes dead, so I can say that. But he wasnt the most pleasant person.
The German-born beauty then suggested that the deceased Hollywood legend had a drinking problem and implied that he also had a poor personality.
He was just a drunk, and Peter OToole, Kruger continued of the Golden Globe-winning star. You know, he had a two-day part [playing King Priam], and I played Helen of Troy and he was Peter OToole, and he just wanted to make sure that everybody knew that he was Peter OToole.

I never liked Mrs. Kruger, you know. But, from now on, it's going to be a truly intense hate. So, now that Peter can't defend himself any longer, she's finally entitled to sprout this garbage: truly impeccable logic. He was the only reason to watch the film in the first place (well, along with Julie Christie, perhaps, but she has minimal screen time). I'm sure he wanted to be somewhere else during the shooting, as he often slammed the horrible script (and how can anyone have a problem with that?), and, if he didn't work well with Kruger, that's also quite understandable, since she wasn't exactly the most reactive of players. Seriously, with the exception of "Inglourious Basterds", this woman plays all roles with the flexibility of a steel bar: as Helen, she seemed to have just arrived from the set of "Lindenstrae". And the fact that she calls Priam a two-bit role speaks volumes about her cultural level.

She is also a liar calling him drunk. He gave up drinking in 1975 after having his pancreas and a large portion of his stomach removed due to stomach cancer. Also maybe he found it hard to make it up the 100 steps because he was like you know OLD. What a horrible woman, no wonder he wasn't very pleasant to her.

I feel neutral about Diane Kruger. I somewhat like her reputed work ethic and her talk about professionalism on the set. She is a competent actress, though no Meryl Streep. I would not dismiss her comments, ho5b4wever.
On the other hand, Peter O'Toole is one of my gods and source of inspiration. That being said, he does have his flaws. In one of his interviews in the last couple years of his life, the interviewer mentioned that O'Toole was having a Guinness. I guess despite his illnesses he might still have had a drink or two here and there.
Peter O'Toole was never known for being humble or even professional. Immensely talented, perhaps a genius, yes. When he worked on stage, he was rumored to fall asleep or recite lines of King Lear in a different play, all because he was drinking and partying all night. In a way, his Lawrence character had many similarities to the real persona. That might have been what Diane Kruger was picking up on.
And Kruger is an attractive woman, so Peter O'Toole might have made a pass on her. Ryan Gosling apparently mentioned that Peter O'Toole made a pass at his sister. It might have been done facetiously, but Peter is not known to be shy with the ladies, regardless of age, much like his Venus persona. So that might have made Kruger uncomfortable. As much as I admire O'Toole, I would not put it above him to act obnoxiously. I'm aware that I am gossiping/speculating, but gossip doesn't come from nowhere. -

It's possible Diane Kruger's being German had an effect on O'Toole. O'Toole felt the impact of WW II as a boy and anyone who's read the first volume of his memoirs and/or seen the accompanying documentary knows he had a preoccupation with what
some
Germans did.
Or perhaps O'Toole was perfectly civil and Kruger read/saw O'Toole's memoirs and documentary, resented that he remembered WW II too well, and slammed him as a result.

Good information. WWII had a deep impact on O'Toole, Burton, and many actors his generation. He said they were wild because they valued their freedom. They never knew where the next meal was coming from or whether they or loved ones would be bombed.
The loss of Diane Kruger will be but a footnote. While attractive, she is not the most beautiful or charming. While a competent actress, she is no Meryl Streep or Cate Blanchett. The loss of Peter O'Toole will be felt for generations. -

If she really said this she doesn't deserve to be an actress. Just being honest. He was up in his years, even if he were rude he earned his rudeness through amazing roles. As long as he didn't grope coworkers of mentally degrade them in front of crew who cares if he was rude.

I can see Peter O'Toole being mean to Diane. After all not everyone likes everyone, all the time. People are only human and that's life.
But no, I don't see Peter O'Toole making sure everyone knows who he is. He's Peter O'Toole, everyone already knows who he is. He's Peter O'Toole!! On his worse day, he would make a better impression than Diane could only dream of on her best day.
