Indeed. Premiere Magazine, in their '100 Greatest Film Performances', chose his 'T.E. Lawrence' as the #1.

Beyond a doubt the most beautiful actor who ever lived, and none greater in talent or passion for the craft. The eight year span from 1962 to 1969 will be remembered forever for his six breathtaking triumphs:
            1962:
            Lawrence of Arabia
            1964:
            Becket
            1966:
            How to Steal a Million
            1967:
            The Night of the Generals
            1968:
            The Lion in Winter
            1969:
            Goodbye, Mr. Chips

                I think he's better too..
Brando's more popular, but I think O'Toole technique is more refined. Plus he was more natural and had a wider range.
No offense to Brando, he was phenomenal too.

Easily one of my all-time favorite actors. My favorite films of his for me are:
                  Lawrence of Arabia
                  Lion in Winter
                  Becket
The man had unbelievable charisma and presence on-screen.
