I have always loved Dolly and I always will. Don't know when I started and but do know I won't stop
One of my early memories is my mother buying the "In The Good Old Days" album in the early 1970's and "Coat of Many Colors" single with the picture sleeve which surprised me because my mother almost never bought records. I definately played those records more than she did and I started buying records myself when I had a little money! -

I love all sorts of music but I'm more into rock/alternative. There are some country songs that I like but I don't really know anything about any country artists. Dolly Parton is a name that everybody knows but apart from that, I knew nothing of her career other than she's a country singer. I started liking her when I saw her and Shania Twain together in a talk show, I think it might have been Oprah, if not Ellen. Anyway, Shania told the audience of how Dolly Parton was her inspiration and Dolly also talked about her career as a singer and songwriter and I immediately liked her right then and there. I was most touched when she talked about her song "Coat of Many Colors" which happened to be a true story. I knew then that she was very talented, intelligent, and deserves respect and admiration from everyone!!! She's soo genuine and deserves to be where she is right now because she worked hard to get where she is and she has inspired many artists to do the same.

Snap Rain and Tangerines but I heard it back '76 here in the UK in our long hot summer of that year. I was 13 but it stuck with me and has done since and I just like Dolly. My first love musically is soul and disco and there was a serious amount of excellent music of that calibre in that summer but Dolly's Jolene also was around and stuck as I say. I also love 9-5 the song and the film - the film is so funny in an innocent way.

When I first heard her sing, 'I Will Always Love You'- one of the most beautiful songs I'd ever heard.

When I was a small child a friend of the family was a big fan of Dolly and exposed me to her music. I mistakenly referred to her as "Dolly Madison". Madison was the only other Dolly I had ever heard of at that point.
