He was beautiful, intelligent, and multi-talented. With the recent loss of Leonard Nimoy, I truly believe we are seeing the last of that kind of individual in the entertainment industry.

He was so enchanting in Psycho. The way he talked and smiled made me melt. Definitely was ahead of his time, because I rarely find men of that time period attractive. Dunno why.

^ perhaps it's because Perkins was skinny and slightly effeminate whereas most desirable men of that time period were thick-bodied and bone-headed.

Tbh, his weight (and height) had nothing to do with his attractiveness.
He had a gorgeous face, is all. That's how I basically "judge" a man's attractiveness - His eyes, lips and smile. Couldn't care less how meaty or bony his physique is.
In comparison, James Stewart and Cary Grant didn't have good looking faces. At least, I didn't find them attractive. And James Dean isn't the type I'd go for.

I agree! But he was horrible in love scenes. I'm watching him now in Phaedra and he comes across so wooden. He doesn't even kiss back. We all know now of course that he was homosexual. But come one, he was an ACTOR! I know straight actors now that have played brilliant performances as gay characters. I wish he could've overcome this flaw in his actor. He always seemed at his best playing the akward aloof types. But perhaps that was just his niche.

He was literally terrified of women, though. From what I've read about him he went through years of therapy just trying to find happiness. Which he did, eventually, thanks to his wife and children. I agree with you tha5b4t he does portray awkward, aloof characters very well. He liked the light comedy genre but possibly he'd be better as the 'goofy sidekick' rather than the 'romantic lead'. And then of course Psycho happened and he fell into his niche without even trying!
And it's his birthday today so I'm gonna have a beer for him, right now

I'm watching my DVD's of his movies in honor of his birthday. If I can find a movie he's done, I'll watch it, lol. And it's too bad he was only into guys. To quote Sophie B. Hawkins, Damn, I wish I was his lover just once. To feel that body against mine, I wouldn't care if he was awkward. Just to wrap myself in his beauty and sweat for awhile would be more than satisfying for me

I had a Psycho marathon into the early hours

But he wasn't ONLY into guys. His mom screwed him up when it came to women, but once he conquered that fear there was plenty of Tony for everyone!
He did have the best body tho. Ay yi yi.

His portrayal as a romantic lead always came off as the type who needed love making to be virginal and gentle.

Ya, when I was a kid watching Psycho I thought he was so cute.
