His best performance

Haven't seen very many off his movies (hard to do, seeing as he was in so many), but I have seen most of the popular ones. His role as 'The Forger' in 'The Great Escape' was very touching. In fact, I was rooting for him to make it, more than the others.

My fav has to be the truly sinister but at the same time affable portrayal of Heinrich Himmler in "The Eagle Has Landed". You could just imagine Himmler being that way. When Robert Duvall asks him if he may smoke Pleasence simply replies "No" and the look on Duvall's face is classic.

I'm very fond of an episode of The Outer Limits he did, and I'm sorry that I don't remember the name, but he played a mild-mannered scientist who discovers that he has telekenitic powers. Great stuff.
And one of my favorites, though probably not many others, is his performance in Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. I would pay just for those few seconds of "I Want You" that he sings. -

Donald Pleasence is so versatile; one of my all-time favorite actors.
I thought he was excellent as Colin in The Great Escape, and his role in the Twilight Zone episode "Changing of the Guard" was very touching.
He was terrific as a villian/antagonist. I thought he was great in Fantastic Voyage, and in Part Three of Centennial.
Fantastic actor, very much missed.
