He surely was a fine actor and left us too soon. He played wonderful villains, and made great Nazis and spies in films. His roles as Dr. Loomis will never be forgotten. He was also a British war hero during WWII and was a POW held by the Nazis; imagine the war stories he could have told. He was a great actor and never received the credit due him. I believe no Oscar nominations. I always felt that Richard Burton was the greatest actor ever and he also never received an Oscar.

I have to agree with both of you, he was one of the most underrated actors in HISTORY!!! his role as Dr Loomis will always be my favorite he made HALLOWEEN what it is today and deserved a Oscar if he was still alive right now everyone would know him!!!!!!! but sadly he passed away R.I.P to one of the best actors of all time!!!!

Odd, I thought his performance in Fantastic Voyage was cringeworthy and yet he is somehow in the same league as DeNiro and Brando
I'll admit Dr Loomis was a fantastic character, and Donald made the role but after just watching him again in Fantastic Voyage it was like watching a stone trying to act, he had the same emotion throughout the movie, a kind of desperation and he just barked his lines. If that's acting then Jack Black must also be the new Daniel Day-Lewis.
Opinions are just onions with pi in them.
