Truthfully,there's almost no way one becomes a fan of a male or female comedian/actor,without them getting a big score like "Three's Company".
If it's a stand up comic,that's different but an actor like John? It has to be a significant amount of time on a Tv show and also shocase their best talents.
I'd love to say I knew his work before "Three's Company" but of course,I didn't. I can say the first thing of his earlier work I did see was his gust spot on "MAS*H" and then "The Bob Newhart Show".

When I saw Real Men with him and Jim Belushi. One of my favorite movies ever.
John starts out as wimp who is afraid of his own shadow, and turns into the toughest guy in the world, beating up burglars and shooting bad guys with his pointer finger.
