I've heard some bull in my time, but this has gotta be the nugget of all nuggets.
What the **** are you talking about? What are your sources?
You sound like a b*h Mickey had a one nighter with, then left biting the pillow.
Armchair critic. Get a job and stop spewing BS on these boards.
You people have no idea on how the film 'industry' works, or how shallow it is. When you do a lil 'homework', you may have the brain cell to post your 'facts'. Not your chicken s

rsb342013 first I'd like to tell f%&* you, and your parent failed at raising you.
If you read my post properly you would have seen that say that I copied and pasted a review by someone else. Also if you've been in these boards a while you'd have seen plenty of post with links to articles that confirm this review of "Dead in Tombstone".
Here is a link to Rourke bashing Martin McDonagh, and Iron Man 2. Also being quite rude in regards to The Expandables.
        http://www.craveonline.com/film/interviews/177591-mickey-rourke-talks-immortals
Rourke also bashed Moneyball for no particular reason. I am sure1908 this director will hire him in the near future.
        http://www.tmz.com/2012/03/06/mickey-rourke-moneyball-torture/
Now the only thing I cannot double check is the producer saying about Rourke appearing in EX 2: "Maybe if he doesn't act so crazy".
Over all we are not studio executives or Mickey Rourke so we don't know what goes on behind close door, however we can speculate and the review I posted seemed to be a very probable scenario.
Now I will finish this post by saying that rsb342013 you are what I call a fanboy b!@#h everything that Rourke does you will approve and follow, you also need p%$#s enlargement, and your hobby is to eat cat poo.

I don't understand what Mickey's problem is, he's always whining about how the acting business is political. It's like in any business, if you bully the people around you, they are not going to hire you. I saw an interview with him and Aronofsky where he is bad mouthing the writer of the wrestler, and this was just months after they were done shooting. Mickey never changed his attitude, and I hope an actor with some gratitude can replace him on the A list. Have fun doing those straight to dvd movies Mickey!

My guess is, if you make parallels between Sean Penn's Oscar movie Milk and Mickey's upcoming Welshman, he probably wants the ballet dancer for his love interest. This guy certainly looks like a moviestar.

In his imdb bio the rugby movie and Polunin project are marked as separate projects. Maybe after rugby movie his going to play a ballet dancer 😉
Well, I guess we'll find out someday.

He messed his face up with boxing + corrective surgery. As a result, there aren't many conventional roles that he can play.
A 60 year-old guy with a pumped up body, prison tats and a face like the incredible melting man doesn't have many options. Especially since Danny Trejo has pretty much cornered the market for that particular "type."
Guys like Tom Hanks, Denzel Washington, Liam Neeson and even Bruce Willis still have an "everyman" appeal. They can play someone's dad (or even granddad) in one movie, a jilted lover in another movie, then an action hero in the next. They can take on the appearance of different characters.
Rourke, like Stallone, has turned himself into a cartoon character. If you need a washed-up fighter, biker, mercenary, Viet Nam vet, bounty hunter or stuntman, then Mickey's your guy. But these are the kind of roles you only really see in DTV movies. Any "normal" role is pretty much off limits because of the way he looks.

Are his most recently completed movies even on DVD? I couldn't find "Ashby" at the local kiosk.

I rented Ashby from Redbox a month or two ago, and just bought it previously viewed at my local grocery store last night, so yes it's on DVD. I enjoyed it.

I finally rented Ashby about a month ago after it finally made its way to the local Redbox kiosk
                                    It was decent
I haven't seen any of the other Rourke movies released in the last couple of years. I doubt the1c84y even made it to Redbox.
It's a shame he isn't getting any decent roles.

The Wrestler is such a fantastic film and has such an amazing performance from Rourke that after that film, I became a fan. Angel Heart is another fantastic film with another fine performance. Rourke got a very solid shot after The Wrestler, being in Iron Man 2 (A forgettable film) but it just kind of fizzled out. Killshot, I thought was very good, but I believe that was actually made before The Wrestler, just released after. The Informers and 13 I didn't see, I have heard such bad things about them, same goes for Java Heat, Passion Play, The Courier, War Pigs, etc. All of those cheap DTV movies he's doing now. I hated Sin City 2, he looked off in that film, I think that was due to poor make up. The Expendables was alright, I haven't seen it in years but I believe SPOILERS he died in the opening.
I guess roles died for him, look at Cuba Gooding Jr. same thing happened with him, have you seen the flicks he's been doing now?

I liked Informers a lot, and him in it. Java Heat is a beautiful movie, not memorable or particularly captivating, but it looks very good for what it is and he's kind of different in it. Courier turned out to be pretentious trash and he's bad in it. Passion Play is a little artfilm that doesn't work, because it's also pretentious and he looks like his opinion about the project changes from scene to scene. War Pigs is a cheapo with an autopilot cameo by him. The further it is from Wrestler, the worse he is and the movies he does. Although Ashby is an exception to that. He's good and the movie ain't bad.
