Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — John Sayles

Breaking Bad and Mad Men are top tier and the best of what this golden age TV has to offer. Seeing how both will be gone in the next couple years. Leaving show like Justified and Homeland to continue the progress. I thinks his vision and style would do great on cable television. Possibly even on broadcast once they realize they need to higher their creative quality standards.

I always thought David Simon was heavily influenced by John Sayles's style when he wrote The Wire. I agree, OP.

Hell, Lone Star has enough plot and characters to be a TV series on its own.
