*Edit- Wow, there was a really ironic part in his interview tonight with Letterman. He was talking about Paul McCartney -"'She was just 17, if you know what I mean.' No Paul, I'm not sure what you mean. But there might be some law enforcement officials who want to know what you mean." Well, 18 years ago you knew what he meant. -

More proof that Seinfeld is made out of teflon. I even remember People or Entertainment Weekly reporting, non-judgmentally, that he struck up a conversation with Shoshanna when he saw her while hanging around a schoolyard. Creepy . . .

Maybe it's legal in New York. But Jerry was living in L.A. the entire time Seinfeld was being filmedand the legal age in California is 18!

I just wouldn't want to be him because if you stay above a line you'll never dip below but the way he did it with parental consent and models that had parental consent to date a guy in his thirties and travel to other countries to bang, I know if we personalize this the personal economics of his situation with those models, it must have been a really sticky situation in terms of the social constructs in play at the beginning of these relationships if you know what I mean. -

In all fairness, you need to dial down the sanctimony. McCartney, 21 and a UK subject, wrote "I Saw Her Standing There" for his 17 year-old muse Jane Asher, another UK subject. According to Wikipedia, the age of consent at present is 16, was likely the same in the '60s, and "offense" occurs if one partner is older AND in "a position of trust," e.g. a teacher or some such, hardly the case here. In addition, he moved into her parents' house shortly after they became involved, which would imply that whatever they were doing was with parental consent. There's also a very different perception, reflected legally, when both parties are young. IOW, law enforcement officials, even given the remote possibility that they'd cared enough to "know what you mean," had no grounds to do anything about it.

this all sounds way too intrusive of the government. them being so involved in the details the manusha of a relationship mind your own damn business. this is what parents are for when it comes to a man 20s being in a relationship with a girl 16 or 17.

Yeah, Jerry hit a home-run with Shoshanna. I don't see how it's disgusting. He was a famous rich Jewish comedian dating a very young, attractive Jewish princess. I'm sure Jerry got what he wanted and Shoshanna was well rewarded for it.
I can't think of too many men like Jerry nor women(ok, teeners) like Shoshanna who wouldn't do the same.

double standard, this is why its' wrong that jerry did it. bc if it's ok for yo to do it then you can't be not ok with it happening to your daughter. that makes you 2 faced and without respect. so let's see what happens if this happens.
and i would love to see his daughter bring up shoshanna if she was 17 then bc then he would be able to say **** against a 30 year old man dating or being in a relationship with his 17 year old daughter.

I totally get why women think it's gross for a 30 year old to date a 17 year old However, any man saying it, is doing nothing but pandering to anyone who will listen. The fact is any man would date a 17/18 year old if they could. Feel free to lie to yourself though.
