Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Jerry Seinfeld

I used to like Jerry. Now it seems that the more I watch Comedians in Cars, the less I like him. The Bill Maher episode took the cake. I watched it expecting to be disgusted with Maher - someone who I've never been a fan of - and came away with more respect for Maher and far, far less (read: zero) for Seinfeld.
Seinfeld can't shake a fan's hand? Absolutely unacceptable. Seinfeld thinks that he's making people's lives better but "common" people aren't doing anything for him? Excuse me, beep but without common people to laugh at your jokes, pay to see your standup and watch your television shows you'd be working at Footlocker.
Completely ungrateful and not even half the talent he thinks he is. The Seinfeld show was twenty years ago and he's done nothing since. He says this is because he doesn't want to, but no, it's because deep down he knows that he'll never match the success of Seinfeld and his best days are behind him. Larry David was the real genius behind Seinfeld and after he left, the show took a noticeable turn for the worse. David continues to work because David has the talent to do so.
If I saw Seinfeld walking down the street, I'd walk the other way.

It is a comedy show. Those lines were funny similar to how in the show, the characters often were only did things to benefit themselves. I don't know you can like Larry David's humor when during the episode with Bill Maher, he was very similar to David's style.

He's under no obligation to shake anyone's hand. What do people expect to gain from such an encounter?

He's under no obligation to shake Joe Devola's hand either.
