Well, lets look at what happened to his life in the last 10 years:
His dad was suffering from cancer for some time before he died while Spader was filming Critical Care. During his illness, Spader flew back and forth to help care for him, see how he and his mom were doing. That takes it out of you, I know.
When his dad died, he decided it was time to quit smoking. Spader has said that after he quit smoking, he started gaining weight. That was just about the time he separated from Victoria, his wife. She didn't want to live in L.A. anymore, and he needed to for work, but who knows the other reasons for the separation?
Then came The Practice. Spader has remarked that working t.v. has made it impossible to work out like he used to. The hours are longer working television, and the way they film now, a hiatus is few and far between. The divorce around the time he was working on Boston Legal was probably an emotional strain, even tough by that time, he was with Leslie Stefanson.
In a recent interview, Spader expressed concern that he needed to hit the gym, as it makes him very nervous to see so many die in their 50s. But working on The Black List and fathering his younger son has eaten more of his spare time. Being a parent all over again in your 50s takes a lot out if you.
And recently, his mom died, of what, I don't know. But if it was a lingering illness, I'm sure he was involved there in helping his sisters care for her. Losing a parent, be it a slow or quick death, is one of the most stressful things to experience in life.
Having lost my own mom from cancer, I can attest it is exhausting and puts you on an emotional roller coaster. And becoming a first-time parent at 51 to TWO beautiful toddler girls, I can tell ya there, it's like getting two extra bosses!!! Im sure he has SOME health condition we all do in our fifties. All in all, I'm certain that's why he's aged so much. But he's still sexy to me -his mannerisms, humor, intelligence, and yes, EYES!

His dad died in 1996 after a prolonged illness. I never read that it was cancer, but it might have been so. His mother died in October of 2007.
As far as Victoria wanting to leave LA I don't know where that came from. She still lives in the LA area as do several of her siblings. A friend of mine does some business with her, so I know she is still in the LA area. So if she wanted to leave it never happened even after they divorced and the kids are grown.
He and Leslie have been together as a couple since at least 2002, and possibly since 2001. The divorce apparently was finalized in 2004.

Well he's 66only 4 years away from 70 so I don't know what to say. People do age you know. I think he's still sexy because his sexiness isn't completely reliant on his appearance.

No he doesn't! I think he looks just fine now at the age of 56. The big difference in his looks is that he has male pattern baldness, and bless his heart he is happy to just age naturally. No Botox, no hair plugsjust him. He is an extremely talented actor who does not have to solely rely on a youthful appearance in order to find work. It is to his advantage though to keep the weight down. He does not photograph well when he puts on excessive weight. He can still manage a little bit of extra weight, but like Val Kilmer he just can't over indulge where weight is concerned.

Nobody stays young, hot, and 25 forever. Plus Spader actually looks pretty good for his age. He kind of resembles a more handsome version of J.T. Walsh.
You've seen Guy Standeven in something because the man was in everything.
