I think that was a dream you had. I just looked through his IMDb page and read the descriptions of the few movies of his I haven't seen and I can't see that scene fitting into any of them. Oh, wait, maybe you mean
    The Music of Chance
. I know he does some digging in that one but I don't remember anything about orange juice and it definitely wasn't his backyard.

It wasn't a dream but more likely I may have mixed him up with another actor who resembles him. I keep thinking its two days in Vegas or six feet under but he wasn't in that latter movie. I'll go watch them again and satiate your curiosity which must be eating away at you as much as it has me for a while now.

I think you MUST be thinking of
        The Music of Chance
or you do indeed have the wrong guy. By the way, it's
        Two Days in the Valley
        not Vegas.

I've seen all his films, and that does not ring a bell for any of them.

I think you are thinking about "Stir of Echoes" with Kevin Bacon

The movie you're referring to is called .Secretary wher he was a very weird quiet lonely boss to an insipid sexual Secretary

The description provided by the OP is definitely not from "Secretary". E. Edward Grey never digs a trench or looks in his refrigerator for anything.

but it's a great movie if the op is looking for a james spader movie. obviously he hasn't seen secretary and it is worth watching!
