        I noticed this.
since he didn't get to be Marty McFly,
in 1989, he got play a character named Martin in "The Fly 2"
        Notice something??
"Marty McFly" to "Martin in Fly 2."

Eh, i don't think there was any chance he was ever actually
going to complete back to the future. The behind the scenes stories really
make it out as if Spielberg and Zemeckis really "played the game" to
get who they wanted in the role.
Stoltz never really stood a chance. Too bad, cause i like the
stills i see of him in the role.

Two of the producers had an in-depth working relationship with the man who directed Stoltz in Mask. More about it:

Back to the future, because they set michael J Fox no.1 choice, but because he was too busy working in FAMILY TIES as alex P Keaton
BTTF was forced to ask Eric Stoltz to play marty mcfly but only 6 wks. TOO BORING, OUTTA TIME
then they ask MJF take film and MJF have to work on both family ties and back to the future.
ERic Stoltz filming of BTTF is too boring and uninteresting as what Spielberg, Bob Gale & zemeckis speaks.
Eric Stoltz should thank Michael J Fox for giving him 6 wk chance to act and work in BTTF. not to insult that Fox cant' be good like Stoltz. Fox gives him 6 wk chance, he should say thanks to Fox.
if not Fox too busy in family ties, Eric Stoltz wont even have any chance in BTTF

The stories i hear really kinda villify the powers that be a bit more.
Zemeckis and company wanted Michael J Fox, but he wasn't available at the
time and the studio said "MAKE THE MOVIE NOW, OR YOU WON'T MAKE THE MOVIE."
Spielberg was apparently the one who told Zemeckis to not give
Stoltz any direction, and kinda hang him out to dry. They WANTED
him to look bad so that they could go back to the producers 6 weeks in
when MJF was available and say "we need to recast, this guy is terrible."
Stoltz seems terrible because Zemeckis gave him zero direction.

because Zemeckis once told MJF that he is MJF fan.
so Eric Stoltz can never win MJF. not they play the game of they want which person to be marty mcfly, it's really because they really never ho111cpe to let Stoltz to be marty.

from the start to t5b4he end BTTF crew had never planned to find Eric Stoltz play Marty.
they actually plan to find Michael Andrew Fox to play Marty McFly from the beginning to the end, firstly in 1985, because MJF was unable to spare time from Family Ties working schedule (whole day acting in Family Ties) BTTF was forced to find Eric Stoltz to play marty mcfly but finally 6 wks when both spielberg and Zemeckis watch the tape on Eric stoltz, they think he is too boring, uninteresting. and outta time. they finally throw Eric off and find MJF back.
if you guys wanna blame, blame why Eric stoltz was unable to be diligent as MJF

The first person they contacted (Spielberg & Zemeckis) on Back to the future is really Michael J Fox. not Stoltz, Stoltz should say thanks to Fox.
not Fox owes him. it's Stoltz did not treasure his 5-6wk filming opportunity and be a good marty McFly
actually BTTF had NEVER PLAN TO FIND ERIC STOLTZ, he is lucky to play BTTF 1 in 5-6wk. man.
if Fox was free and available, Eric Stoltz would really lost that 5-6wk chance. he should thank Michael J Fox for sure
the first person BTTF side plan is Michael J Fox, eric stoltz is at most their 2nd choice.

The whole thing is written online, written in BTTF interviews , written in lucky man, written in MJF fan sites,
that the initial person BTTF director/producers (film makers of BTTF) found in 1985 , for Marty McFly the 17-yr-old teenager, was really Michael J Fox.
if Michael J Fox accepted immediately without refuse, Eric Stoltz would never be able to try Marty McFly for 5-6 weeks, yes about that, Eric Stoltz should be grateful to Michael J Fox
Eric Stoltz did not condemn MJF but Eric's supporters keep bashing MJF on Marty McFly. they never think things on positive ways, they should change their ways of view that, if not MJF nice person, forgo the first chance of Marty McFly , Eric Stoltz would never be able to be on Back to the future for 5-6 weeks.
sometimes, think things on positive ways, you would get happier, eric stoltz fan.
