Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Eric Stoltz

    fun-niji — 11 years ago(August 24, 2014 09:07 AM)

I've always fancied Eric Stoltz since his small part in Anaconda (a film I saw when I was much younger, around my teens or entering it). I have probably seen him in smaller parts in other films too but, honestly, I don't remember the films or the titles and it has been years since I saw him on any screen. But he was one of those actors who kept cropping up in my mind despite the
    very-tinsey-small
amount of films/ shows I have seen him in.
Then yesterday, I came across, discovered and watched
    Some Kind of Wonderful
amidst my discovery of other John Hughes' films outside The Breakfast Club.
First off, I'm smitten by him/ his character. Second, first time me seeing him that young with that hair-do. Thirdly, I've been
    re-smittened
by him in this film. Rooted for him to end up with Watts and I
    really
    like this film.
Kind of wishing the impossible - that there was more. Would have liked to really see more screen time with Watts and Keith interacting.
So, fans of Eric Stoltz, please recommend or suggest a couple of films of his that you think is outstanding and highlights his acting skills. Please.
In SKoW, I really enjoy the close-up shots of his face when he isn't saying anything; such as his real subtle reaction to Watt's talk in the bar scene.

You sound like me when I first noticed him. Had seen him many times but couldn't recall all the films he'd done. Here's some of my favorite movies in which he plays lead roles:
      Mask
      Sleep With Me
      Don't Look Back
      Keys to Tulsa
      Killing Zoe
      Mr. Jealousy
      He's also terrific in:
      Pulp Fiction
      The House of Mirth
      Happy Hour
      The Butterfly Effect
      On TV:
His seven episodes of Once and Again (if you can find 'em)
His three episodes of Grey's Anatomy (not to be missed)
His six episodes of Mad About You (the best of the show)
      All of Caprica
      His episode of Maron
All of season three of Blue (streaming on Hulu and CTV)
      How's that for a start? 🙂

          Everything that Abby said and
          The Lather Effect
! You can find the DVD online several places and is a must watch!
          Mr. Jealousy
is my 2nd favorite. He was excellent in
          Fort McCoy
, too. I am bummed that I didn't watch it a 3rd time when it was still streaming on Amazon and Netflix.

I first saw Eric Stoltz in a TV movie called "A Woman at War" with the excellent Martha Plimpton and immediately fell under his charm.
I loved him in "Bodies, Rest & Motion" too, his scenes with Bridget Fonda are great, there have very tender moments.
