Why doesn't he get more roles?

No. He's been working on his directing career lately more than acting. He did, however, just shoot a pilot for Lifetime TV called "Modern Love" in which he plays the lead character. If the show gets picked up, that'll be some new on-screen work for him.

Sure! Here's an interview on io9 from a couple years ago when he was doing Caprica, where he mentions it.

Here's another more recent one from the Orange County Register where he claims h2000e believes he's a better director than actor.

I don't think that means he's giving up acting all together though. He does still do the occasional guest appearance/cameo. And having the lead role in Lifetime's "Modern Love", he'll have some steady acting work if that show gets picked up. The pilot hasn't even aired yet though, so we'll have to wait and see. -

Alas, that's not to be, at least not by Lifetime. They passed on the pilot. It gets a fly-by mention in this article:

I've heard just the opposite. In fact, Heather Morris and Vanessa Lengies from Glee publicly voted him "The Sweetest" cast member of Glee, even though he's not even in the cast-

and that's after working with him for two years!
Also he seems to always work with the same people over and over- Glee, Tarantino, Cameron Crowe, Noah Baumbach this is usually a sign that someone is well liked.
Perhaps you're thinking of Eric Roberts. -

Not quite correct, ArtistFormallyKnownasWiki, on the DVD extras of BTFF, Zemekis talks about how talented Stoltz is and how much they liked him, they just always wanted MJ Fox for the role.
Stoltz is much loved in the show biz industry, Shonda Rhimes keeps hiring him, David E. Kelly keeps hiring him, Ryan Murphy keeps hiring him, Cameron Crowe, Tarantino, the list goes on and on.
Because he's a terrific actor. Check out this Guardian review of CAPRICA;

the reason he 'doesn't get more roles' is because he is DIRECTING now, mainly GLEE, but also other shows such as CALIFORNICATION and GREYS ANATOMY.
I love him as an actor, and wish he would act more. -

from the start to the end BTTF crew had never planned to find Eric Stoltz play Marty.
they actually plan to find Michael Andrew Fox to play Marty McFly from the beginning to the end, firstly in 1985, because MJF was unable to spare time from Family Ties working schedule (whole day acting in Family Ties) BTTF was forced to find Eric Stoltz to play marty mcfly but finally 6 wks when both spielberg and Zemeckis watch the tape on Eric stoltz, they thin16d0k he is too boring, uninteresting. and outta time. they finally throw Eric off and find MJF back.
if you guys wanna blame, blame why Eric stoltz was unable to be diligent as MJF
