I don't see why people get their panties in a wad over what anyone says over the Internet.
Good. Bad. Big deal.
It's comparing apples to oranges. Any actor/actress knows it's part of the territory. I'm sure Ms. Swain would probably just laugh at anything posted her if she read it. Just be a big boy or girl and remember it is worth what it costsnothing. Welcome to the world. -

"This is as close to a celebrity as most of them (the morons) will ever get other than the movies or the occasional concert and even then they probably sit mainly in the nose bleed sections"
Actually, Twitter now seems to be the closest people can get to celebrities.
In their Twitter descriptions, a lot of actors have links to their IMDB pages, so Dominique Swain has likely read some of this stuff, but I figure when criticisms and bashing statements are conveyed ignorantly, they really just look stupid and have no effect. Besides, Dominique Swain may not be an A-list actress (a category that doesn't have the same meaning as it did ten to fifteen years ago) but she is steadily working and making more money for a month or a few months of work than the average movieviewer makes in several months or a year of getting up every morning to go to a job he hates and goes home to a family he forces himself to tolerate. -

Well said and I agree with you.
It's just that I like her as an actress and when I read the nasty negative opinions of people you and I will never know beyond their screen/username and they call a beautiful young lady "ugly and having no talent", both of which are demonstrably false I can't help but wonder what these otherwise nameless, faceless people look like or what impressive talent they have.
Mainly I just hope if she does read these that she doesn't forget that a lot of people like her and admire he work. I know I do. -

This is a good post!
I don't know Dominique Swain, I think I haven't seen any of her movies. Still it felt good and uplifting to read this. So thank you. If you have something positive to say, say it!

Alhtough I agree with you I have to go to the great wisdom of Kevin Smith
"That's what the internet is for, to slander people anonymously!"-Brodie Bruce Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back.
In defense of Ms. Swain, s111che never agreed when she was 15, and agreed to be in Lolita, that she would look like a 15 year old girl forever! And if you expect her to, you need some serious psychiatric counseling!
This message board needs an enema! -

"I hope Dominique doesn't read all the things people post about her on blogs but if by chance she reads this one I know I speak for a lot of people when I say'You're beautiful and the best is yet to comekeep up the good work !!!!"
Yep, the interweb is the domain of cowards for a fact. Swain is awesome and always will be in my book.

" People have a right to say what they want"
It's not really about a "right." It's about decency. Too many cowards hide behind the anonymity the interweb offers just to take pot-shots at people who don't deserve it.

Certainly there's a more flattering picture for her IMDb photo??? Who's responsible for selecting which pic is used? This photo isn't good at all. Any photo of her would be better. There are many out there.

I completely agree with everything you posted. IMDB has become the mecca for shallow negative people. Almost every message board has something negative and hurtful about the highlighted actor or actress. I think that these people who say these hurtful comments should get a life of their own. Most of them are jealous that they themselves have no career whatsoever. At least Dominique has a career. Thank you for your post.

welcome!!! the 21st century. This is the nameless, faceless dweeb era. Twitter, Tumbler, Facebook, Flicker All avenues to give the nameless a voice that no one really cares about. It's also spawned a generation of young people to think that people actually do care what they think. Twitter especially. It's the little tough guy in the car / pussy in person scenario on steroids.
I figure there isn't any point in trying to run against the dumbness tide. So best I can do is catch a little added humor out of people idiotic posts. Some of those Youtube posts are just so Awefull & cruel it just makes me laugh.
for what it's worth (which apparently is nothing. LOL) I really only know this girl from Face off & a few other Movies (probably Lolita, but all that's going back to the 90's. She seemed talented. & looks like she's done a fair bit of work. so she's at least got that going for her.
