Feminism SHOULD be about woman wanting the same rights as men and to not be held to a lower OR higher standard. Just the same; equality. Women want to make the exact same money as men in the same field, want the same rights as men, want the same treatment as men, etc.
But sadly, a lot feminists that are the most vocal and radical within the movement in America don't believe in their own definition. These are modern neo-feminists and are the most active right now. To them, feminism is about shaming men for essentially being men. It's about holding women above men as the greater gender. It's about being able to shut men up because they disagree with you and then hide behind be "repressed" and "silenced". It's about complaining about superficial crap, video-games and a rape culture that doesn't exist. It's a circus.
So it really depends on which faction of feminism you're talking about. "Militant" feminist sounds like a radical feminist, which there shouldn't even be a need for unless they are soldiers fighting for an army with other men and women who also identify as militant feminists. That sounds cool. Otherwise, sounds like a crazy, quirky label.

RAPE culture, unfortunately, most certainly does exist.
