tigerbosI'm sorry. Perhaps I didn't read everything thoroughly. Yes, you're right. Kate definitely had a few unkind words to say about Meryl. I love both Kate H. and Meryl5b4 Streep, so, I feel a bit of congnitive disonance in liking Meryl (not really, just joking). Yes, I don't recall any kind of backlash against K. Hepburn for saying those things about Meryl (although, I think I read her thoughts about Meryl when Kate was in her 90's, or perhaps already gone. I don't know, however, if that was actually also the time period in which she made them; or, if she voiced her views right near the beginning of Meryl's career). ANYWAY, though I don't recall a blacklash against K. Hepburn for her outspoken views on Meryl's talent, or "lack thereof", in her opinion, people are treating Emma Thompson just as she herself said"as if she drowned a basket of kittens". It's preposterous.

I so agree with your statements. It's outrageous!

Everett doesn't seem really to like the material perhapsbecause the stage version would have been static and contained Beatons costumes as well.
Emma's poor choice of criticism sounds blatantly more self-serving since she is writing the remake.
Both are wrong about Audreyshe was a fine actress whose work shoneeven for those who did not find her to be the best choice for MFL.

I've seen My Fair Lady at a state theatre and the actress who played it there played it better than Audrey Hepburn. I realize she is a beloved figure in cinema but she certainly wasn't the best or even near it in her performances.

Please tell me who would have acted a better Sabrina or a better Princess Anne in Roman Holiday.

The subject was in reference to My Fair Lady, not Sabrina or Princess Anne. I thought she did a fine job in Sabrina. My point is, I think she is over-rated.

This was the sentence I refer to and I would ask the same of Everett and Thompson. I am fine with the idea that there might have been a better Elizabut the comments have been that Hepburn could not generally act . That just isn't true.

Audrey can act. I just think she was over-rated and for the roles she played, she did o.k. but I don't hold her as an actress in an overly high esteem though I have nothing but admiration for her as a person. She certainly did what she could for people and that is wonderful.

Rupert Everett doesn't like anyone though.

If Rupert Everett said that, I couldn't agree more with him.

And what, pray tell, has Ruppert Everett been that has been of any note, recently? Sounds like a pretty useless actor to me. He sounds like a Julie Andrews fan who would try to bring Julie up by putting Audrey down.
