I love her on Californication! It was weird at first because she has changed so much. I knew about the arthritis and I knew that she'd been taking steroids for it during the period that she gained so much weight. That's a horrible, debilitating disease, hopefully she's found a safer substitute that works as well. I was actually surprised when she showed her bare foot recently on the show because you could see how deformed her toes have become from the arthritis.
Either way, I think she's fantastic on the show! I hope they keep her for more than a season. That's a great character for her and she does wonders with it. She really adds a lot to an already excellent show.

yes, I just saw here too in those episodes. My Gooood! I started looking on imdb to see her age and I was like. She is still young but she looks so old.

So a friend of mine lent me a copy of Californication Season 3 to view.
I must say after seeing her, every time a new episode was beginning I was dreading she'll be in the frame, let alone the scene and would simply fast forward.
OK Body Heat was a couple of life times ago.
But the vulgarities coming out of her character's mouth, chances are, are not far from the truth. I realize she has been stricken with this horrible disease, but man oh man, the bubble has burst anb68d there's nothing there but a monster!
I tell you one thing, if I know she's in something I will avoid seeing her in it.
                        TOTAL TURNOFF!

Ahh yes, see that's the key term right there. "Turn off." As if our job as women, our sole job, our whole purpose in life, and obviously the only job of any female, whether an actor or in real life, is only to be a "turn on." We're not worthy or capable of anything else. And once we all lose our "turn on" ability, we sicken the same people who once (seemed) to enjoy us. Guess that was all a facade too, everything predilicted on how "sexy" we can appear, behave, and act. Our whole identity is defined by how well we "turn on" the opposite sex. Sure, that's a good one.
Time catches u16d0p with everyone, eventually. And one day, you, too, won't be such a "turn on" to people "forced" to look at your physical body (after all, that's who we are, right? Just our appearance. Nothing else really matters).
                          Tick, Tock, Tick, Tock,

FASCINATING, Susan Sarandon, or maybe Hanoi Jane are you?
What a curious picture it is to find man, homo sapiens, of divine origin, we are told, seriously considering going underground to escape the consequences of his own folly. With a little wisdom and foresight, surely it is not yet necessary to forsake life in the fresh air and in the warmth of the sunlight. What a paradox if our own cleverness in science should force us to live underground with the moles.
You are very bitter, angry and dried up. Maybe you should do yourself in?

I gather they don't have sarcasm where you live. I'm also sensing you are missing the point of my post entirely and injecting some non-relevence to issues you are surmising the existence of. Also not quite sure how you, personally, view "bitter," and "angry" and especially "dried up." Bitter about what? Angry at who? And what on earth does "dried up" even mean?
I find man's superficiality to be sad. If you could gleen that from my post, then we're part way there.

She IS looking like a bag of bollox though, Scarey almost. In the context of this show she's probably the ugliest thing I've ever seen, Charlie is hidden totally when she sits on him!

Wow, what an incredible lack of empathy for an actress just because she dares to age and not be a sex symbol anymore.
                                        Really
                                        ? She's a "
                                        monster

Then in your replies you tell a poster they should commit suicide. Classy. Your abilities to empathize with others are evidently nill. Really sad.
I admire Turner as an actress and still do despite all she has suffered. And her lack of vanity in this period has impressed me tremendously in an HBO documentary I saw recently, her focus was that of a stage pro, all on the work, all on the students, and it was really amazing and cool.
So she's not 30 anymore or skinny or "hot." She's still got incredible charisma and can bring memorable characters to life. I salute her for her honesty and for her journey and talent, and wish her all the best.

                                        I keep thinking I'm a grownup, but I'm not.

I can't believe that a genuine, ballsy, extremely personal confession of this kind from a star is met with such bastard replies from so many people on here!
You all truly deserve some really bad real life kicks in the ass.
This woman has been inflicted with a horrible illness and all you can do is make fun of her or even just say how ugly she is (not even "become").
I am so grateful that she has the audacity to show her face and body in public, let alone on camera, and grace the few of us who appreciate a consummate actress, with her legendary charisma, wit, great voice and simply presence.
Thank you Miss Turner, there are people who love you and appreciate all you have and are still doing and hope you keep on getting acting jobs.
