LOL! You're quite right, mhearn, but they have to do something for this film besides get Betsy Palmer, LOL!
I think the decision they make will probably turn out well, though
I think a whole legion of fans would be very disappointed if they chose wrong, so I think the last thing they'll wanna do is make all of the fans upset at their decision!
Thanks,
Mike Sorge -

yea agree totally, no-one else could play pamela.
I think they've done this because they dont really want to associate this movie with the already watered down FT13 collection.
Marcus Nispel is great at recreating horror movies. look how well he did with texas Chainsaw Massacre
Doesnt matter, this movies gonna kick ASS!!!! -

I'm right on par with you, davadholt69! Even though no one could replace Betsy Palmer as Pamela Voorhees, obviously they have to get someone who could do a fine job.
I also totally agree that Nispel is a GREAT filmmaker when it comes to recreating classic horror films!
If he can do for "Friday the 13th" what he's done with the "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" remake, I think we'll all be in very good hands!
Thanks,

Hopefully she (of all people- who the hell even is she? haha) Satisfies . I feel they could have cashed in on a "known" has been actress. Much like Betsy Palmer. By the sound of Nana's voice on the trailer, it would seem she is playing the role a little too dry. But who knows- she could be great. (I cringe at the thought of a remake- especially from this type of director though).

I hope she stays in the movie. It's an iconic thing, many remakes have been messed up but those that work are awesome. Choosing her shows the makers had a good move right there. Definitely diversifying, I could see her being the tough gal too, I know that she knows how to handle a knife from DS9!

Betsy Palmer will always be Jason's mother to me but if you read any articles that have her talking about the original Friday the 13th movie, she says she only did it for the money and thought that the script was 'trash' (my word, not the word used in the article I read).
So even if they asked Betsy to do it, I doubt she would have said yes to it. They had to get someone else to play it this time, no choice. I haven't seen this movie yet but I do plan on itI have seen all the Friday the 13th movies. -

Lol, I've heard that its a short sequence (I mean it is the opening credits) but is it really that short? That is such a rip-off if it is. Do they even show the entire fight between Pamela and the counselor, or is it just like "blink and you miss it"? People on the F13 boards are ripping Nana a new one. I understand Betsy will always be Mrs. Voorhees, but don't blame Nana. She only does what she's given.

yes it is literally blink and you miss it
spoiler
i don't understand why they even hired her unless there was a lot of stuff cut or they plan or planned on doing flashbacks with jason and the mom. the opening minute it basically the very very end of the first movie.
if they used a voice over and she's in it for 20 seconds why didn't they just hire a no name person to do it unless they had more plans for her? -

I finally got a chance 2 c it on Sunday and I was so disappointed that Nana had such little screen time. I think that the opening credits was the best part of the whole movie (and not just bcuz I'm a fan of hers, but bcuz it was a mess). They did have more plans for the Pamela Voorhees character. Several interviews with writers and producers stated that Pamela's role was inteneded 2 b much more developed and explored. They say that a lot more of her scenes will b included on the unrated director's cut of the DVD that is coming in the summer. And for what its worth, Nana knocked it outta the park in her few scenes.

i just saw the new '13th' and nana is only in the begining for about 20 seconds, wonder how much you get paid for that, anyway pretty typical horror movie although jason seems more agile and moves faster now.hope if they make pt2 nana has a little more screen time.
