The actress will be at a sci-fi convention that I'm planning to attend, and I was just curious if she's generally known to be good (or bad) to her fans.

I haven't met her myself unfortunately but from everything I've heard, I believe she is very nice and friendly with fans.

worked @ Paramount during the Deep Space period. She had some kind of attack happen. After that she always had 2 attack dogs with her. I guess she was terrified

Somewhat old post but posting anyway. Got to meet her and get an autograph at the Star Trek Convention at Crown Plaza in Cherry Hill this weekend. I have to say of all the celebrities at the convention Nana Visitor was the greatest person there!
First of all, she was absolutely fantastic with the crowd. Each and every Star Trek actor/actress went on stage to talk for a bit about Star Trek and to answer fans questions. She seemed to be the most down to Earth. She talked about her personal life, joked around, answered fans really well, and actually acted like she wanted to be at the convention!
When I got her autograph I told her she was my favorite DS9 character (which she was) and she seemed really humbled to hear that. Very nice women, smiles, really respects the opinions/feedback from her fans. I was absolutely blown away by her in person. Her, Avery Brooks, and Rene Auberjonois (among other actors) did massive lines of people for autographs. I think of everyone she seemed to be the one person the least "annoyed" by it. Very friendly and outgoing, signed a nice autograph (unlike some who scribble their names).
Nana Visitor is a great person as far as I can tell. I don't know how she is off stage/camera or not around fans but she is VERY nice when I met her. I would go back again just to meet her, she is a wonderful actress and it made it feel like it was worth the trip out there to see them because she was so great.
I don't think anyone was "nasty" at the convention. Rene Auberjonois is the one that had a huge mega-massive line and he seemed slightly irritated. He absolutely didn't act like it or was mean in anyway, but you could tell in his eyes he was getting tired of signing autographs. But hey - he's 72 years old now, what do you expect?!
I love Nana Visitor, I wish to see her in more roles in television/movies. Shes old but still got it, very nice actress. She was also very good on DS9, her, Avery, and Rene really carried the show.

                  I attended her very first ST-Con in Wash. D.C. back in - I think - 1993.
She was very nice, a bit nervous, and asked we all understand she was new to Cons
and not a Trekkie Expert. I could see she was nervous and asked a question about her
family or husband or child -I forget. She thanked me for asking and replied very nicely. BUT,.
Then came the Trekkie Dolts asking ridiculous questions about the Transporter
fer Christ's sake. And despite her pleading in effect, "it's a TV show" (but
more politely than that) she still got several questions of this type. She
handled herself very well but I can still remember thinking she would quit the
Con-circuit if it was gonna be like that everywhere she went. Apparently she did
not and I'm glad others have had a chance to meet this fine person.
It was the last Trekkie-Con I ever attended. I had come to believe that the Star Trek Universe was basically Wishful-Thinking, Pie-in-the-Sky Hooey that, although very entertaining, would never last 2 secs. in the Real universe. The series got increasingly PC from NextGen onwards. Aliens, Bladerunner, and maybe, just maybe, Solaris (Tarkovsky original) are likely much closer to the Reality of what lies out there than ST could or ever would be.

I was working a convention a couple of years ago that she was attending and met her in the green room which was thankfully empty at the moment. I went up to her, asked if she needed anything and asked if she knew when a DVD of the Spirit movie she did was coming out. She was obviously FLOORED that I never once mentioned DS9 (as a courtesy to her) and was absolutely charming and lovely to speak with. I also capped it by bowing out after a couple of minutes so as not to be "that fan".
