Do they genuinely enjoy it? Do they feel comfortable? Do they not feel what I feel which pure torture? If they do feel gross and uncomfortable why do they do it? What do they do to not die or get a headache? I have so many questions.

Here on the beach I see the same locals acting as human hotdogs under a giant heat lamp every day. Tourists too.
The euro types stick out like a black in a police lineup comprised of all whites but him: pale almost albino skin. These dumb bastards bake in the direct sun, bake in the indirect reflected sun from white beach sand, and bake from reflected sun off water.
They look like boiled lobster the next day

Funny thing is the Candy man took the family to get lobster while looking like one in Summer Rental.

People can get addicted to it because it releases endorphins.
Exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation from tanning beds or the sun can trigger the release of endorphins in the body.
Endorphins are natural opioids that produce feelings of pleasure, relaxation, and euphoria. When UV rays penetrate the skin, they stimulate the production of beta-endorphins, which can lead to:
Improved mood and well-being, Reduced stress and anxiety, Increased energy levels, and Addiction-like effects in some individuals.

The most I do is go to the beach and wade in the waves for about a half hour to an hour tops once or twice a year in summer. Or when I go on walks I might get some some sun on way. I cannot stand sitting in the sun much less laying in it for more than 10 minutes.

If you want bad cumulative effects of “tanning”, keep it up. Skin cancer is waiting for you.
I don’t mean you personally, but in general. Even with sunblock, it can happen. I wear sunblock every day on my face and neck, and put it on if going outdoors for over 10 minutes. My dad had a lot of skin cancers because he loved sitting in the sun.
And yeah, I think I’d get a headache sitting out in the sun.
If you can’t say something nice, say something clever but devastating.
