Has Jon Voight ever addressed what made him switch such extreme sides politically and socially? He was an outspoken libe

Money I guess.
I was once told by a doctor that some people who did serious drugs or alcohol in the past have a kind of brain damage where they only see things in terms of black and white and not shades of grey.
I have said this in the past that Voight is incapable of having moderate views. He cannot be just left or right but in the extreme left or right.
It's that man again!! -

He's easily manipulated (and, I suspect, thinks being a "softy liberal" looks less cute and "too weak" on an old man).
In the '70s and '80s, Voight was your prototypical Hollywood liberal. In the 21st century, he's your prototypical conservative.
But he falls back on shallow talking points regardless of which side he's promoting or pummeling.
In the '80s, when he was involved in Native American rights, he gave a tearful speech saying that a mystical wondrous event was about to unfold. As a result, embarrassed tribe elders had to go in front of the cameras to say they had no idea what Voight was talking about.
At least Mary Tyler Moore had the excuse of her brain and body shutting down to explain her eleventh-hour surge to the right politically.
Voight, on the other hand, just seems to be foolishly sputtering along as he always has, regardless of which ticket he's supporting this week.

As for the OP concept that he can only have extreme views, I think he may have a point, but I don't think Jon did lots of dope. And I don't think he was ever extreme left. He was a progressive Democrat and all that implies, but then he went right and backed Bush. Then finally he went full on Fascist with Conald.
Yes, age is a part of it, but the evil really came out in the last year.

I know in the '70s he was on our side, and a friend of Jane Fonda during Coming Home. He made a bunch of great films with progressive messages. I don't think he went down the rabbit hole of MAGA Fascism until recently. Maybe it's just senility. Sad.

Is it really that hard to figure out?
The Dems have been pulled far to the left. That's why most of us started voting Republican.
Put simply, the Dems went insane. And they seem to want to stay insane.

The Dems have been pulled far to the left.
Wrong, **** for brains. The Democratic leadership has resisted all attempts to move to the left in the last 20 years or so.
Yes, men can get pregnant. And the woman of the year is really a man.
That entire subject is something only right wing bigots want to talk about, since you ****tards won't talk about issues that actually have an effect on the lives of a majority of voters. It's nothing but a ruse to change the subject to something that gets your Neanderthal base excited. -

I'm not sure but I do know that he's a huge "Christian-Zionist". That might explain his support for neoconservatism and an uber hawkish foreign policy.
Christian Zionism is a belief among some Christians that the return of the Jews to the Holy Land and the establishment of the state of Israel in 1948 were in accordance with Bible prophecy. The term began to be used in the mid-20th century in place of Christian restorationism…
Some Christian Zionists believe that the gathering of the Jews in Israel is a prerequisite for the Second Coming of Jesus.[3][6] The idea has been common in Protestant circles since the Reformation that Christians should actively support a Jewish return to the Land of Israel, along with the parallel idea that the Jews ought to be encouraged to become Christians as a means of fulfilling biblical prophecy.

We have a few of these nuts on this board, e.g. Soul Venom.
Edit:
Apparently, Voight is a Catholic which makes his "Christian-Zionist" beliefs even stranger since Christian Zionism is a Protestant phenomenon and the Catholic Church by and large has always taken an evenhanded approach in the Israel/Palestine conflict. Voight is deviating from his own religion by taking such a strong pro-Israel stance.
